EGT hitting 1600+ degrees!.... Injectors maxing out?
Im currently running turboedit with 450s and a 190lph fuel pump with a t3/t4 on my CRX with a B20 in it. Last night while doing some tunning I decided to crank up the boost to about 13.5 psi, spiking to 15psi then coming back down. Im not running more then 16 degrees of timming up top and my AFRs are a steady 10.8-11.3. As I shift into 4th gear my EGT just skyrockets up past 1600 degrees towards redline (did this twice, I can cant watch the road and all my gauges at once). The only thing that I can think that would cause this is if my injectors were maxing out since my timming isnt crazy and it appears that Im getting the proper AFR. What are some symptoms of them maxing out?

find a way to read your duty cycle. lots of things on the market right now to help with this. apexi comes to mind.
what gauges do you have and what were they reading while your egt was pegging?
since you cant check your duty cycle right now apparently, maybe try to pull some timing out. could be running too advanced.

this guy is right. you need to advance your timing. the later in the stroke that the spark plug fires, the hotter your EGTs will be because the fuel is still burning as it exists the compression chamber.

yea b20's have a larger bore and will require a little more timing. I highly suggest taking it to a dyno to figure out where your timing needs to be.

lol, at least I was on track with the timing
I just usually pull timing first before adding from past experience but I guess the b20 likes more timing

Add timing an watch the EGT's drop. If you keep adding it and then EGTs start going back up (in a major hurry) back it down about 2 degrees from there.
You can go much leaner after peak torque as well. 12.5's - 13's if want. Add timing and pull fuel generally after peak torque, as detonation is less likely than at peak torquq here and will help you hold your torque longer.
If your injectors were maxed out and causing problems...it would show up on your WB before anything.

your gonna need more than 16deg of timing at 13psi. the more timing you pull the higher the EGT's.

Thanks for everyones help, I added timming and EGT cooled off a bit. From what Ive herd from other people running B20's do like timming, I just dont really want to blow it up... I would like to hit the dyno and dial in some timming but dyno day is tomorow and I unfortunately wont be able to make it.. 3 pulls for $40 bucks... Dang it! Anyway, AFR is now right around 11.5-11.8 @ full boost, thanks again for everyones help, with any luck I can knock down a 12 second run tonight!!

I had this probleme. My timing was not well synched on my distributor and my ems.
So , i thought i was running 20deg@10psi, but in reality was around 10deg timing... egt was so high ! even on highway en cruise... have my egt around 1400-1500deg. Now they are around 1200 on highway, and dont go over 1300 on wot long pull.

What format motor is this generalization for?
ie: heres some #s from my base ignition stuff for an 8.5:1 d16z6
9.5psi 11psi
4400 16.92 15.48
5300 16.20 14.40
6300 19.44 18.00
7400 15.12 13.32
I'm slowly trying to figure out ignition timing and such... i'm waiting for my wideband back so i can finish the fuel work. Then the plan was some dyno time to actually work ignition timing.
