Edelbrock 1505 50-State Legal Integra Turbo Kit
I keep thinking about buying this kit one day but was wondering what information people had on it already. I want to keep it street legal and this is really my only option. The little I have read around online says its a great kit, price feels a little steep for me though.
Anyways, what information do you all have on this? Whats the max HP someone has tuned this kit to? Any and all info would be great, thanks!

They have been discontinued for a good while now... If you've found a new one it's more than likely old stock that has just been laying around. Edelbrock doesn't make replacement parts either but you can find edelbrock distributors who will still have things like manifolds on the shelf.
If you're looking at it because of it being carb legal.... most cali guys simply copy the Greddy CARB sticker and slap it on their car, regardless of the turbo stuff they run. most refs don't know what they are looking at anyways (if it has a sticker)

Yea, freaking CARB garbage... I wish they just had a special emissions test for "modified" vehicles, it would be so much easier that way!
I'm just looking for any upgrade in power, says 225hp after installation. Just wondering how much more it could push out if tuned for greater performance (300+hp?). If it was tuned, would a Smog tech be able to find out? Would he check the ECU?
Pretty sure they are still making them, found a few sites that said they were selling.
Edit: Oh, I didn't read that anywhere, was under the impression it was still being made as I found a few sites that had them for sale. Hmm...

I've found a lot of those pages were just never updated... I was looking for an edelbrock B series turbo manifold (they sell them separately) because it flowed better than greddy's unit but every site I found that said they had one in stock suddenly didn't when I tried to order

Well if your problem is that they open the hood, for less money i would do a remote turbo setup and hide the turbo somewere not visible. At the end no matter what you do the experienced eye will get you.

From what my Cali friends have told me, most of the refs are clueless.... it's the cops that seem to know what is and isn't legal under the hood, some can even tell what size turbo you have lol (most are car guys afterall)

That sticker is the reason people bought this kit most likely. If you don't need the sticker, or plan on doing what someone else mentioned, you can get a good kit for much less. I'm sitting at ~$2100 for the kit I put together right now, including a traction bar. Most of it is used though. If you want all new stuff, you can still check the market place. But for a goal of 225 wHP, I think you can get there much cheaper.

When you say Ref, you mean a State Referee correct? Like the guy you get sent to when the cops pull you over and ticket you right? Now a Smog-Tech, that is different.
I know the local Ref, he's a nice guy and i've watched him check cars out. He'll run the numbers on the CARB sticker, look at the picture, and then see if it matches what is on the car. Not sure how you can get away from that.

i am building a custom kit based on the Edelbrock manifold and exhaust elbow. the quality of those pieces are great, and the fitment is also damn good.

using the edelbrock parts and the turbo that fits them will look almost identical to the original kit. the computer stuff on the other hand, will not. the original system used a set of secondary injectors controlled by a separate subsystem.

The Edelbrock elbow is much better than the Greddy unit, it was a more thought out design that flows much more than the Greddy piece, however, I still think a true downpipe would outflow them all (you can get a piece from ATP with a turbine outlet flange, oval to 3" transition and a welded on 3" v-band all as one assembly, cheap.

Yea the Edelbrock manifold was a well thought out piece, still might sell my ported B series Greddy mani and try to locate and Edelbrock unit.

Are there no other "loopholes" in Cali? I know here in PA if you put less than 5,000 miles on the car in a year, you can get the emissions exempt. That's what I do with my del sol, but I also have other cars to use for a DD
