ebay's ssautochrome wastegates
I know everyone here hates their manifolds, but what about their wastagates? It looks just like a Tial. Anyone have any experience with them?

you get what you pay for
you pay high price you get high quality stuff(most of the time)
you pay low price you get low quality stuff

Re: (brryder)
They go for $120 plus shipping on ebay. Also, there is a 1 year warranty, but no warranty agaist boost creep so I guess it's comparable to the Deltagate.

Re: (turtle-eg)
they now own the rights to the 35mm WG . . . that is why Tial stopped making them, but I have personally not dealt with those WG's so I couldn't say . . . maybe they work maybe they don't . . . just find a used tial.

Yup, that was me. Paid $177 + $15 shipping for the biggest piece if **** ever. The ring that sits in the bottom of the wastegate did not even come close to fitting. It was garbage DO NOT BUY ONE! Just buy a Tial. http://www.WiredSpeed.com took awesome care of me!

Hey , as far as what ive been reading, obx **** it weak and unreliable. Is this because you guys are trying to run dumb amounts of boost, or is the **** that bad. I figured that 6 -8 psi , lets say on a d-series shouldnt be bad, but then again i never had an obx mani or anyother product at that. If 6 psi will crack the obx mani , and the bov is crap at that psi , then why the hell are people still buying it. just curious. my point is if your just bitching something up in your back yard on a 100 dollar block then why spend crazy cake on products good to 400 horses and cost and arm and a leg. just curious. I used to have a 2.0 8valve vw that i boosted at 6-10 (untuned) psi on the WORST mani that is made for that motor and it did fine. (cracked when i made a boost controller and spiked to 15), but thats 15 not 6.

Re: ebay's ssautochrome wastegates (ForceThis!)
I was considering one as well, but then I thought, why? Why not just spend an extra $50-70 and get a 38mm Tial? OBX and SSAutochrome is infamously **** quality and products.
I do have an OBX catch can though, only because it was $45 shipped and all it is is a cylinder with a couple bungs Its stupid because they're all like "ITS TIG AND MIG WELDED!", but theres no welds on it heh
Something as important as a wastegate shouldnt be skimped on.

They are crap no matter what psi you run and it is the wastegate that is crap not a bov. I would guess that people still buy them because they are cheap and if you don't know what you're looking at, they look good. The bottom line is the craftmanship sucks. The welds, the material, everything. When its hot with the weight of the turbo it will eventually crack. The SS autochrome ones that come "braced" are still crap because thats not the correct way to brace a manifold anyway.

I love how **** changes here weekly....If you do a search for these damn things they've been talked about many times before. The last few threads about them - people thought they were a good deal and worked well.....
Just because 1 guy on this thread had problems, doesn't mean they're crap - period.....

Exactly, SSAutoChrome has had more than its share of bad reviews and shitty products. They earned a name for themselves and it's no different than the situation with Osaka Motors. I'd personally stay away and just spend the extra on something thats proven. There's a reason none of the "pro" drivers and expierenced engine builders use their products.
