Easiest way to pull turbo motor?
I'm wanting to yank my motor and in looking around the engine bay I'm thinking I can just disconnect the p/s pump, a/c compressor and of course radiator hoses, wiring etc. and just drop the whole motor/tranny assembly with turbo and all still attached straight down, jack the body up and slide engine assembly forward. Am I over thinking this or will that be the easiest way? How do the rest of you pull them?
This is a 98 civic with a D16Y8.
Thanks

Re: Easiest way to pull turbo motor?
Remove all turbo related components.
For FWD vehicles, remove the engine from the top.
For RT4WD vehicles, remove the engine from the bottom.
It's really that simple.

If you have a cherry picker the whole swap will come out from the top.
If not take the turbo setup off. Then drop the tranny first from the bottom, then the motor last.
Drain all your coolants and oil first or you'll end up with a he'll of a mess.

BTW I noticed all those pics are of motor and tranny coming out as a combo. Is that just because entire swaps where been done? Seems like it would be easier to just leave the trans axles and tranny in the car and just unbolt the motor and lift it out?

Good luck getting the engine to clear the transmission input shaft by leaving the transmission in the car.
Pull the turbo components off first. Then pull the entire engine/transmission assembly out. You can go from the top with a hoist if you don't have a lift, or you can go through the bottom with a lift. Don't over think it.

Also depends if you have a/c or not I'm sure. My turbo sits so close to the a/c condenser I'm sure it'll destroy the heck out of it with one slightly wrong move. Might be safer to pull my turbo setup and then have wiggle room to lift it out.
