You cannot do this. You will wreck the rods. If it were that easy, Eagle would have done that a long time ago.

my friend just became a Eagle dealer and we where talking about this so you can't just swap the upgrade bolts in he was saying you could just to make sure where talking about the same bolt it's the 3/8 ARP 2000 upgrade bolts?
This is funny i was just going to do a search on this but then i saw this post so i just decided to ask

Since the new bolt has a larger diameter, the bolt holes in the rod have to be drilled out and retapped. This weakens the rod itself.
The second problem is the larger bolt requires more torque. This torque distorts the big end of the rod. It then has to be resized weakening the rod even more.

The ARP bolts that comes with Shelf eagle rods are the 2000 series 5/16" bolts. The upgraded bolts are the Custom Age 625, Earl is correct, you have to get the rods machined to accept larger bolts and higher torque, machining process usually runs you about $ 75-100 ish. The Custom Age 625 itself is about $ 110 per set.
The 2000 bolts needs to be torqued down at 28 ft/lb, the CS625 is at 45 ft/lb. There, you can see the difference...
At this point, you may as well get a crower or pauter.

that is not what i heard about the custom aged 625. from what ive been told by several people, that rod bolt is just a direct replacement for the arp2000 bolt that comes with the eagle rods. this is not a 3/8" bolt, it is still a 5/16" but is made of a material that is supposedly 36% stronger than the arp2000 and that the torquing goes from 28ft/lbs to 32ft/lbs not 45ft/lbs(i think youre referring to the 3/8"bolt)

i hope this sound right.. 625 is still torqued 2x times the arp2000. so . its same size.. but rods have to be resized be cause of more torque so it fits right.

Ok i know this has been talked about one million times but i like the info so what every body is saying is the ARP3/8 2000 bolts are what come with the rods stock and the upgrade is the custom aged 625 and you have to mod. the rod for them to work. One last thing when i rebuilt my motor i think i torqued my rod bolts down to 32ft/ lbs instead of 28ft/lbs will this be ok it's been running for about 4000miles so far no problems.

im sure youll be ok but you are stretching the bolt beyond the recommended amount thus increasing the chance of failure.hopefully u at least used the assembly lube
