Default e-cutout people: where in your downpipe is your cutout???

just kinda curious. im gonna have my dp made soon with the dmh cutout and y pipe put in there. i want to get an o2 bung before the y pipe, but if i keep the downpipe stock length i think the o2 sensor will be in the way of my intermediate shaft . what are other people doing with this? btw the car is a 97 ej coupe with an lsvtec

You should have plenty of room before the Y. Why not just extend the wire of the O2 sensor and relocate the bung closer to the front? What is this O2 sensor for? Primary or wide band?

wow thanks guys. the pics really help, you've all got some very nice setups going.

i want to put the bung down there, solely for my wideband. right now its close to the turbine and i keep messing up sensors .

i am actually planning on puttin the compressor on the drivers side, and running the dp straight down and back under the pan. im planning on buying a da teg by summer and i want the setup to be able to transfer over as easy as possible.

i noticed that a few of you had a turndown right after the cutout- i know it would help keep the hot exhaust off the bottom of my car, but do you think i can get away without it? the studs that came with the y pipe arent very long and i dont think i can bolt a flange on there once the cutout is on the studs.....
keep the pics and ideas comming, its very helpful

i see that in the pics the ecutout is right after the turbo, is that better? i was planning to put it at the end of the downpipe.

With the cut-out right there in the engine bay won't you have the problem of sucking up the exhaust fumes into the compressor?

i dont mean to ask a dumb question...but what is the reason for having a cut-out instead of just running an exhaust down pipe??

To retain a quiet exhaust... and when needed the cutout opens relivening backpressure. Systems can be opened up by boost.... manual... or an electric motor

thermal- thats just about exactly the way i had mine planned out to be, the only exception is i wanted my o2 bung to be right before the cutout.

i also have a 2.5" testpipe that i have no problem cutting shorter to add length for the y pipe in my downpipe, but that would put the actual cutout right underneath my car, near the shift linkage. any negative effects to that besides a "hot shifter" hehe????

Actually, I relocated that bung right before the Y pipe. It would make more sense that way

with something like that, you can make it intially 4inch dp and then make it go 2.25 all the way back huh? so if your car is slammed, no clearance issues?

i just don't know about it being so close to the return line, wouldn't that be like burning oil? LOL
