Default E-85/alcohol advice needed-fuel system parts

For Cyclone Racings new car we are running E-85 ethanol (85% corn alcohol) and I want to know what we should use for fuel system parts (pump, filter, lines, regulator, fuel rail, injectors, tank).

-lines must be SS braided with compression ends (no barbs w/ clamps)
-injectors need to be 24lb/hr (roughly 250cc/min)
-pump must be 50psi at 60L/hr, 50lb/hr or better
-rail will be custom, just need to know what material to use
-tank will be custom just need to know what material to use (must be metal)
-regulator needs to be adjustable
-ALL need to be E85 safe, preferably w/o flushing the system

Right now we are using:
-Earls SS (rubber, I don't think they are teflon) with aluminum ends, AN-6
-14lb/hr injectors, they are maxing out on E-10, so they are definatly gone
-renault inline external fuel pump
-aluminum fuel rail, bare, not anodized
-aluminum fuel tank, not anodized or coated
-Aeromotive FPR with gauge

I just need to know what I can keep and what will be destroyed by the E-85. If it will be destroyed I need to know what replacements to get.

[shameless plug]
If there is a company out there who wants to sponsor our car IM me. We have lots of sponsors (like goodyear and lincoln electric) but nobody yet for fuel system components.[/shameless plug]

Our website is http://www.public.iastate.edu/....html and here is a pic for fun:

You might be able to get some fuel additives which will keep the fuel from reacting with your gas tank and rail. Otherwise, a stainless steel tank would work. Those rubber lines will need to be replaced with teflon lines. You can search for information and pricing on tygon, thats good stuff, but I have a feeling its just as expensive as the teflon lined stainless steel braided stuff.

I am going to run this in my CRX with a b16 and a turbo i am on SVSU FSAE team i did the carbon work with one other guy. http://www.svsu.edu/fsae we did the E-85 with a turbo thing last year the fuel is really cool just do not hold onto to much at a time because it will take on water and then you can not use it. As far as the fuel rail and so on ethanol does not attack al. like methanol Does we did testing in our chem. lab and did not show up and type of damage over 1 year on testing. So I don't think it will be a problem in your car.

Doug

If you go E-85 make sure you do the turbo and intercooler it makes much more power under the curve even though the top end is not much better because of the 20mm.

How bout posting the new website
http://www.cyclone-racing.com
That car is the pig from 2 years ago
heh
Turboing is not an option this year for us, and the restrictor for E-85 is 19mm not 20.

Edit: I call that car a pig because it was upwards of 600lbs @_@ The official number on this years was 444 I believe.

I forgot the dash, so I couldn't find the new site.

Thanks for the info. I'll check that out.

Congrats IOWA on the 22nd place finish in Mi this past year. I was the team lead for the Cal state univ, sacramento. We broke our differential the first day and then killed out flywheel during the endurance race. But hey....We were the team to win the Lincoln welder. If you were at the awards banquet, I was the guy running up for it.

In regards to your thread, have you done any corrosive testing on SS or AL for that fuel rail?

Thanks!

We have not done any testing yet, it appears that JrCRXHF has.
