dynoed my car today - turbo D stock block
D16Z6 at 117K miles
ARP headstuds
GReddy 15G kit + 6" FMIC + BOV + EBC
stock cat + Apexi WS2 exhaust
stock injectors (at 95% duty cycle) and fuel system
stock ignition + NGK BKR7E-11
EManage
8psi -> falling to 7psi at the top, 11:1 A/F in boost
dyno: 163 WHP at 6K, 158 WTG at 5K
conditions: 5:42pm; 56.36 deg F; 29.00 in-Hg; Humidity 18%; SAE 0.99
---------
about what I expected
I did 3 pulls, on the first two it appears that the spark plugs didn't produce a spark from 5200 to 5500 RMP (no CELs) which went so fast that I haven't noticed it before - just saw that on the dyno graph. The 3rd pull went all clear where I made 163WHP and 158 WTG ... So sometimes it misses spark, sometimes it goes OK .. hm
the above issue is due to the fact that I haven't pregapped my plugs -> which I'm about to do tomorrow ...
-----------
3K - 55 WHP
4K - 105 WHP
5K - 150 WHP
6K - 163 WHP
7K - 155 WHP
7,250 - 150 WHP, and red zone after that
I'll post the graph later
The RC440s are gonna go in when I switch to Hondata s300 most likely

Try to make your gap smaller cause the sparks can bend and be blown out

still pretty excellent #'s for that psi level.
check the components of your dizzy also, i was having a problem like that, and it was my ignitor dying.

While that's not a typical Honduh ignitor problem you do see it a bit with certain other makes of ignitor/module. GM HEI does it consistently; breaks up/glitches at a certain rpm. Definitely worth checking out.
Grounds might cause a similar ignition hiccough, too.

A tad rich yse. but I would more call that conservative. I tune all my setups for 11.5. You don't really make much more power running 12.5. Power is made from ignition adjustments.

he wouldn't have gained much from running slightly leaner.

Re: dynoed my car today - turbo D stock block (SOHC_MShue)
did you pull in 3rd? I dynoed my car last fall, y7/y8 15 psi, air fuel was under 10 for me. I was having issues with gaskets, essentialy i was sucking fresh air into my exhuast, which was where my stock o2 sensor was at. Anyways, i put down 189 hp, but i ran in fourth. Just wondering if anyone has any differences in power for the two gears.

you want to run in whichever gear is closest to 1:1 and that happens to be 4th. Although 3rd and 4th will give similar results from what i've seen. You probably would have benefited greately by leaning it out if your air fuel was that rich.

I thought fourth was the closest, but i have heard of most going in third. I was just curiuos on the differences. I know it was faster then that, when it was running better, as i pulled a 13.003, but that was when the air fuel ratio was in the 11's. Oh well, nice numbers, sorry for the thread jack now crank up that boost, it only gets better

Re: dynoed my car today - turbo D stock block (coneheadsracing)
10x for the replies ...
I had no time to do the pregapping this morning, but I just got back home so I'll wait 1 hour to cool off and then I'll pregap the plugs .. I think this is probably my problem. Anyways, I cant feel anything about that loose of spark, I just saw that yesterday on the dyno graph.
the pulls were done in 3rd gear .. The guy asked me what gear I wanted and I said 3rd
as for the A/F - I have done 12:1 and it was the same as 11:1, so I stayed at 11:1 . When it gets colder I've seen as much as 11.7:1 on my wideband
the timing is retarded 1deg/1psi
------
side note: just raced my friends 240 HP Porsche Boxter and we were even we went from 70MPH to 120MPH. I think I was going a tiny bit faster than him, lol .. his is new, at under 5,000 miles

Re: dynoed my car today - turbo D stock block (miro_gt)
pregapped my BKR7E-11 from 0.044 originaly to 0.035 ..
funny thing is that my car ran leaner .. the difference was of about (0.5 - 1.0):1 A/F leaner than before ..
so I left the car to idle for 30 sec and it corrected itself .. it idled at 15.5 A/F and corrected to 14.7 in 30 sec, lol ...
^ smart car

Re: dynoed my car today - turbo D stock block (1dumbassscreenname)
I know this may sound silly... but double check that your spark plug wires are TIGHT onto the plugs and cap. I've found that some wire sets will be a hair loose because the metal connectors aren't down as far as they should be. A quick adjust with a screwdriver to tug them down can fix it.
I had a wierd hesitation up in higher rpms and realized my #3 wire wasn't holding really tight to the plug, tugged the inside clip down some, recapped it all and worked fine.
Had also seen this with MSD wires and them wiggling loose some.
