... dyno wideband placement question... downpipe vs tailpipe...
... i was wondering what adjustments should be made if the dyno's wideband is placed at the tailpipe versus the downpipe... when i go to the dyno, i want to calibrate my techedge, so it will be in the downpipe... i hope this makes sense... anyways, lemme know... thanks...

yea i was wondering a similar thing lately. if most places are saying to have the wb sensor after the snail and before the cat, how come dynos stick it up the tailpipe? are their wb's different? wouldnt tuning rich off of the tailpipe be equal to tuning extremely rich at the dp?

they stick them in the tailpipe cause its alot easier and most people dont have bungs welded in the exhaust...eitherway they are both accurate, although ide have more faith in the screw in sensor up on the downpipe.
ive seen two dyno sheet plotted on top of eachother, one with the sensor in the tailpipe, and the other up on the downpipe. they both gave about the same a/f reading, but the one with the sensor in the tailpipe read the reading about 500rpm's later then the one in the downpipe...this was on a supra btw

we have had customers at the shop that have a wideband installed at the downpipe and we put our own wideband into their tail pipe and the #'s were maybe .1 off.

a WB 02 in a tailpipe is about 500 rpm off vs. one in a collector/runner/post turbo.
