Dumb question, but can you run a Turbo w/o an IC?
Dumb question I know, but can you run a turbo without an intercooler? Or it the intake air too hot without? Cause I know a lot of older factory turbo cars had no IC. I know you would lose a lot of HP, but I would think more tuners would do it for a sleeper effect.

yes you can... you won't be able to boost a honda much above 5psi without an intercooler though...
and if you want the sleeper look, go with a water to air i/c

True. I guess there are no dumb questions, but I don't think it would take that long to do a search and find the answer. You will learn a lot more by searching than you would by having somebody answering your questions all the time.

Ahhh...gotcha. No more asking questions on Honda-Tech. I mean, what made me even think of asking a turbo question io the "forced induction" forum on here. Duh, sorry.
Thanks to everyone else for the info.

what a fool, leave troll if your going to be like that.
Yes you can run one, the greddy 18G kit comes out the box without one. As stated, its a good investment for one.

If your going for sleeper, you can still use a IC. Either paint it as suggested (radiator paint is available at a most auto parts stores) or hide it. I have a '92 Teg that is going turbo in two months. The IC is going behind the stock bumper. I'm cutting the factory front grill in the lower portion of the grill. I'm not removing the grill, but I will be removing enough material to allow for the IC and a black painted wire mesh. The only thing you should notice when I pull up, is the blov.
Was going to put up a pic. but imagestation is down for some reason....

Hah, u could barely notice ur IC... Why dont u try to hack more stuff so u could mount ur IC further back? Then add a grill.. I noticed ur IC stuck out a lot.

You dont need an intercooler. Just be sure to run methanol on the street
But all joking aside, get an intercooler, its far more safer then running without one.

Yeah, there is really no way I'd run w/ no IC. And besides, my group of friends all run black IC's. I was simply curious. Nowadays everyone is going for the sleeper look, so I was curious why hadn't I seen it at all. Thanks for all the good info everyone!

I ran without one on my 00 si, the greddy kit for a gsr at six psi. I ran colder plugs but that was it. The car ran ok, but i would not do it again, and i cant say i would recommend it either.

Re: Dumb question, but can you run a Turbo w/o an IC? (hadboosttroy)
I ran my car with no intercooler on my old D16Y5 and ran a 14.0@100 with a T25 @10psi on street tires stock clutch, with 110 octane in the tank (for peace of mind).
I wouldnt reccomend it but its not insanely dangerous to not run one.
