dsm OR my ef b20 ??
i have a awd tsi for the winter and love the thing it only has a few small things done and halls some ***. Just dont know what to do i dont really want to hop on the built honda motor band wagon and these things can push 30 psi stock before needing rebuilds easily going into 11-10-or even 9's on stock blocks. Think about not spinning but i just dont know what to do weither or not to sell some honda turbo parts and keep the ef just swapped or slowly do the dsm
just want some ideas/opinions from people who have, like, or hate dsm's

Re: dsm OR my ef b20 ?? (b20turboic)
ive got a dsm im building into a 10sec car (eventually)...and it takes alot of money to do it right...dsms have alot of tranny/drivetrain problems that have to be tooken care of if you want to run fast more then one time.
my advice is if you want daily driver with no problems dont build up a dsm...not saying its not impossible to build up one that can run 10's and still be daily driven, but its gonna cost alot of money..
honda's dont have the problems with the tranny dsms do, and can actually hold up pretty well even on stock axles..but they will also require lots of money to make a fast street car out of.
both cars have their own advantages and disadvantages..you just have to decide for yourself what you want...

Re: (danl)
thanks guys i think i may sell my custom kit and fix up my 90 tsi awd and i am aware of weak driveline and my tsi tranny is beat from the day i got it but a non beat one is only 350ish so it will be ok, figure it will run 11's all day from the money i can get from all my honda stuff ... plus my turbo killed my honda diff tranny doesnt work anymore without grinding every gear sooo each has its + and - points... but its being awd and factory turbo makes me knowing a stock block can take a sever beating . my buddy runs 11.02 stock internals awd of course
i my honda but lust for awd street racing ability

Re: (b20turboic)
I was faced with the same decision not too long ago... Just got a talon from my friend for almost free...didnt know if i wanted to turbo my h22 integra or dump money into the talon...an sc61 on a talon would be pretty nasty...no spinning or anything...but theres also that part that says spinning tires and 80mph and doing burnouts cant be replaced... if i am building the honda, i defintely want to go all out...but with the talon, since its a factory turboed car...u already have a lot to work with...i know lots of people with stock internals in the low 11's

Re: (chidoks)
i dunno where you guys are getting this no spinning with a high HP awd...unless you are running full slicks you can still get a nice awd burnout going...especially if you get a welded center diff...you can sit there and spin like with a two wheel drive car (well i guess you prolly could with the right setup but it wouldnt be to great for the car)

Re: (chidoks)
yeah but hooking up is great still dont know what im gonna do but the dsm is seeming brighter and brighter... i like the idea of being fast on the street as well as the track.. plus i could really make it nice with the money i could get for the civic w/ turbo kit ...

Spinning through the eighth is cool, untill you get your timeslip. People aren't impressed by how much tire you can lay down, but by how low your et is. If you want to spin tire get a non posi v8 and do one wheel peels. Hooking up is everything and makes for some priceless moments on the street. I f****** hate my fwd dsm. It has everything I want in a car but traction.
