Icon2 DSM manifold + external wastegate? HELP!

hey guys, the other day i picked up a 1st gen DSM turbo manifold (cast iron) for dirt cheap, and i want to run an external wastegate.. SO, just wondering if you guys want to give me your opinion on where i should stick the wastegate.. and if thats even doable on this girthy chunk of cast iron ha.. my first guess would be directly over where the turbo bolts up but theres a rutter of sorts right there that diverts the flow from the middle two upwards..

oh and if anyone wants to drop another opinion, what kinda turbo should i mate up with this manifold on a stock f22a to make 300whp give or take

thanks guys

You will need to do it one of 2 ways, like the DSM guys.

1) Use a turbine housing that has the wastegate flange on the housing itself like forced performance.

2) Get an 02 Housing that has an elbow to fit an external wastegate. Either the 02 housing itself, or a flange that fits over the turbine housing of the manifold.

You will not be able to weld a flange on the manifold itself.

That last post is incorrect, you can place a waste gate on the furthest runner (longest one) only thing about locating the wastegate there is your only bypassing exhaust gases from that one runner the most ideal location for an external would be at the collector part of the manifold. The only thing about getting a flange welded to the manifold is that your welder must now what they are doing in order to combine the cast iron with your steel flange.

As you requested. The pictures were from someone that sent there manifold off to have their flange welded on, but thats the end result.

Most ideal location though would be in the middle of the 4 bolt holes that the turbo bolts thread through.

You're new to this thinking that you could take a manifold from a turbo car and simply integrate it into another honda not knowing what the DSM manifolds do. what was just shown is NOT recommended by any means. Here's what i'm referring to.

This is how the turbine housing holds the wastegate from FP

OH, by the way, could i fab a portion of pipe between the manifold and turbo just long enough to put a wastegate flange on? or would i have clearance issues or whatnot..

Actually, the cheapest way would be to get another manifold entirely, or purchase the FP housing depending upon the turbo used. That DSM housing is a radius flange and will not fit a universal T3/T4, unless you plan on using the Mitusbishi turbo as well. Then you'll have to get a turbine O2 housing with the flange on it.Cheap isn't going to help on this one for your reliability concerns. Sorry
