I just got done dropping my oil pan, and now the hard part comes. Where on this beast do I open the hole for the return? There's like a shield about 1/2way down (See pic 2), from like where the bottom of crank is. So, can that come out or where should I tap it (anyone wanna point on on a photochop for me).

go as high as you can but not so high that you wont be able to tight the fitting on with your wrench. Also make sure u tap between the studs for the pan. That you will be able to bolt up ALL the bolts.

Are you going to tap and weld or....

Depends on what f*ing fitting I can find. The only fitting I can find right now is like a freaking line maker, w/ like an inch long 1/2" thread coming off the end. It would need to be cut off, but I think I am going to use that and get it welded. If not, then I am going by Home Depot tomorrow and getting a nut for the other side. Locktite/gasket that thing on and hope the sucker doesn't leak.

Also, what about hitting the crank that far up? Any problems?

BTW, does it matter which side (tranny or drivers) that I tap in to? It's going to protrude in the oil pan about 1/2" to 3/4" in order for me to put the nut on there. Is there any chance of hitting anything inside of there?

how hard was it to pull the pan off....cuz when i got my zc there was a dent in the pan. so i tried taking it off but it wouldnt come down..so i said screw it. but i guess ill have to do it now that im goin turbo also.

put the hole on the drivers side of the pan. about 1 inch down from the top so that its is laying horizontal. also im goin to put the bolt inside on fthe pan with a lock washers on both sides.so if by chance it comes loose i dont have to pull the pan again..i can just tighten up the nut.also it wont protrude into the pan as much as if the nut and stud were inside.

as for it getting in the way of anything id like to know that also.

and send me an im when you find the "L" fitting for the pan so i know where to get it also.

important: figure out where your downpipe is gunna be and work around that. try temp fitting everything before drilling. you dont want your return like to be touching yoru down pipe.

another thing to consider is to make sure that the return line continually slopes downward. I'll try to find a pic of my b16 fitting placement

Try putting your oil pan and downpipe back on temporarily and run your oil return line to the pan, then just mark where the line can go with the downward slope and all. Then take ure pan off again to check if it clears.
