driving around with IC piping unhooked.
what are the downsides? i need to drive the car to my tuner about 15 miles away. my car started to over heat as i was driving home from my friends house.
this is my second turbo setup, so dont make stupid remarks. I drive slow and i dont push the motor hard.
serious question btw.

Why is the car over heating? that shouldnt have anything to do with charge pipes or getting tuned, you should probley worry about fixing that first..
15 miles isnt that far, did your tuner give you a basemap? if so just stay out of boost you will be fine..If there isnt any thing on the ecu, i would recommend towing it...
If you really want to drive with the pipe off it wont be a problem driving the car, as long as you take it easy. I have driven with a blown charge pipe farther than that to my house to fix it....

Its harder on your turbo than your car. By running with the inter cooler pipe disconnected it allows your turbo to spin freely. It can potentially over speed the turbine and destroy the bearings. Up to you though.

the car hasnt been tuned yet. Im not driving around in boost, and i removed the charge piping to prevent any boost from happening. The car's temperature needle started raising on the way home to about 3/4's from the (H) line. I pulled over, and the car wouldnt start, even with a push start. Im guessing its either a spark issue or a fuel issue, but why is the car over heating? it cant be all 3.

seems to me i wouldnt worry about your tuning appointment if you are overheating. if it overheats on the dyno its on your dome and wasting time.

hey this might sound dumb, but what motor oil are you running? i tried to run that synthetic oil made by Quaker State 20w50 for turbo engines and it was too thick for the oil pump to pickup and it made my temp gauge go through the roof. I switched back to a synthetic 5w30 and never had a overheat problem since and ran the car with no tuning at all and never had a problem.
just a thought, hope you get it fixed

well, luckily im smart enough not to get it tuned before i fix the over heating problem. Right now the car isnt even starting, it just cranks and cranks. When i tried to fix the overheating problem, i started the car and it worked fine. After about 4 minutes of monitoring the car and the temperature, everything looked fine. I turned off the car and tried to restart it, but the car would just crank and crank.
fuel pump is priming
main relay is working
i neeed to check for spark.....but im at school.
