Default Drag I/C good enough for 400whp?

I have my drag intercooler and piping from my old setup. since it's here i'm thinking i may just save myself the hassle and $$$ and just use it on the new setup. the i/c is 2" inlet and 2.25" outlet and the core is about 18"x6"x2.5" (i think). and the piping is 2" on the hotside and 2.25" then 2.5" to the tb on the cold side. i rather upgrade if it will be limiting. anyone know if this i/c and piping (mainly the size) will be enough to support 400whp efficiently?

Im no expert, but I say no. I personally have a drag IC rightnow on my car pushing 360whp. I plan on going to 400whp, obviously when drag sold this kit , it wasnt made for 400. My drag2 core is like 18.5x6.5x3 spearco. Im getting a Precision core 24x10.3x3.5 with cast end tanks good for 750 whp. Tony posted pics on it, it is sweet.

my friend dynos at 382whp on a drag i/c with 2" and 2.5" piping...this was after 3hrs of tuning and a boost leak so i would say it will flow enough for 400whp but its definitely not ideal for that much power...we figure once he upgrades to at least 2.5" on both sides it should help out some....

yah i want to upgrade the i/c and go with 2.5" piping but i have it here so i'll just use it for now... it's going on the built d16z6 i have. i doubt ill make 400whp right away anyway so it should be fine for now. i really want a precision or pwr though. saw one in person at a local shop it looks beefy hehehe

Yeah I made 400 with it too. But wouldnt you like to have a cooler intake charge? How well is this IC performing at 400whp, maybe someone with TECH can give us some advice.

you can make ONE pass on the dyno and have it be sufficient. Have it going through the gears repeatedly is a better testament to an i/c's effectiveness. The DRAG supplied i/c's start becoming a restriction around 350whp

one way to tell if your intercooler is loosing efficiency is by logging your air intake temp

I have made many passes on the dyno with this intercooler. still made 390whp. It can do it. If you have the $$ definetly upgrade, but if not it will do the job..

I have no doubt that that same intercooler could make 500whp but think of the power gained if you had a bigger IC.

at 30 degs intake temps and 15 seconds WOT in 5th gear on 1.2 Bar of boost I had an temp after the IC of 50 degs. This is kinda efficent. 1.2 bar = 375whp
