A Dollar and a Dream for SOCH TURBO

A Dollar and a Dream for SOHC TURBO
Car: 95 Cx hatch w/ jdm15b vtec
Mods: Sohc Greddy kit, greddy FMIC, greddy turbo timer, Thermal cat back, Type S bov, autometer oil/airfuel/boost guages. Runing at 6 psi w/ greddy blue box.
Dreams: Get a block guard, headstuds, injectors, possible low CR headgasket, possible inline fuel pump, hondata, boost controller, and take it to be tuned for 10-12 psi.
Questions: Which injectors? fuel pump needed? Lower CR headgasket needed? What kind of power on the otherwise stock motor will I get. Is 10-12 psi realistic for reliability. Is a new cam nessacery? or is the d15 cam aggressive enough?
What type of Intake manifold would be needed for more breating?
Reliabilty and lower cost are important...

Re: A Dollar and a Dream for SOCH TURBO (95turbohatch)
I have a very similar setup. d15b with a greddy turbo / homemade kit.
I'm running 450cc injectors + a walbro 255hp fuel pump. My d15b7 fuel pump almost cost me a motor, be careful! I got a p28 + uberdata tuned via wideband. I recommend the same thing, if you want to keep your motor safe.
As for the other questions, do a search more info in the search.

440 injectors from rc or any other company. maybe even dsm with resistor boxes
yes a fuel pump will be needed, cheapest is a inline fuel pump. kind of loud
no need for a cr headgasket.
get a d16y8 manifold, better improvement for air flow or a skunk2 if u got money.
cam dont make as much power for FI as it does for N/A
its almost death for a d15 on boost to run on 10-12lbs without the right fuel management. hondata will fix that 4 sho.

Re: (yellowfever)
dont get the skunk2 manifold. for that money you can buy other parts u need like the fuel pump or be more than halfway to getting your hondata. if you are set on a manifold get a y8 manifold and port match that to accept the gsr tb. 10 or 12 psi is about the max i would run on stock internals for reliablility.

Sorry for the double, but anyone have the instructions for what dsm 450s (if it makes a diff) how to make them physically work, and how to wire in the resistor box? thanks

And i just got the manifold in mint shape for 200. So thats one thing down. Any d series intake mani gasket works im assuming. Still no DSM help?

This is how I did my Solderless Resistor box install: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=736737
Also do a search for the thread posted by Ladysman I think it was, hes got an "Official Resistor Box" thread up here somewhere.

10 psi should be safe, i'm not sure about a d15 but i ran 8-10 psi on my d16y8 on an apexi kit with the hack for over a year with no problems daily driven. I also ran a 8.52 1/8 mile on that setup. Oh yeah on the hack i also just ran the stock fuel pump.
I'd get intank fuel pump unless you're going to run a FMU (which imo is just a bad idea anyways)

Re: (95turbohatch)
FYI, they do make a 225 lph inline pump.
As for fuel the setup we are looking at is:
DSM 450s (can a VAFC, as opposed to AFC, be used for the Hack?
225 or 255 lph inline fuel pump.
Is the Inline pump going to be over kill if we just use the 450s and maybe a FPR?

Re: (Slammd Sol)
So the setup goes:
ARP headstuds
STR blockguard (the one with the least cooling issues)
hondata s200 w/boost (are any other options needed?)
DSM 450 cc injectors (can the VAFc be used to hack them?)
OEM honda resistor box
255 lph inline fuel pump
skunk2 intake manifold (purchased)
GSR Throttle body
boost controllor (manual, turbo XS)
Comments/advice welcome.

He has the stock 95 CX motor timing belt (new), is that what the jdm d15b vtec requires? As for water pump, his motor is pretty damn new, i dunno, well prob wind up doing it.

It's not JUST the cooling issues with a block guard, also thermal expansion/contraction issues come into play. You might want to get a step or 2 colder spark plugs. I'll be doing street tuning again come summer time. I can save you the cost of a hondata.
