Doesnt matter any more, it blew up
Thanks for all your help guys, i really appreciate everything:
I guess its just my luck, or for some reason god doesnt want me to have a car, maybe i would kill myself, i have no clue. After about 2.5 years, about 20 grand later, and more blood sweat and tears than you could image (really the amount of downfalls ive had would make you cringe) its done. The tunner was over the other night to get it running for the first time. Motor never made oil pressure. Even taking off the oil filter and cranking/running the car for about 2 sec, nothing. So i replace the oil pump yesterday, ordered all the new gaskets/seals to finish the job today.
We cranked the motor over for a long while, maybe a total of two minutes, oil never made it to the feed line. Take off the oil filter, we did have some pressure there. Then we cranked it some more, and got a steady stream of oil out of the turbo feed line while cranking. (no real pressure, but a steady stream).
So we turned the car on, with the very rough tune on it you have to hold the throttle at about 25% to get it to kick on. So as soon as it started it went up to close to 3,000 rpm. after it peaked and started coming back down, BANG: KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
S thats the story. Im more than likely going to be putting the car up for sale here soon as i dont have the money to fix it. Probably about 20 grand invested, id like to maybe get 10 but i know thats probably not even worth asking for...
And a pic for ***** and giggles...
Here the front fender still has paper on it from getting painted:
and a motor shot :

Re: (Sketch_hs)
Just score a new crank, new bearings and maybe one new rod depeding on which one spun the bearing. That is all of $1,000 tops. The cylinders would be fine. Just drop the tranny. Then Drop the crank and one piston/rod combo, replace and your good to go.
Who built the motor?

Re: (Mase)
Did you have the crank journals checked for true roundness before assembly?
Again just grab a new crank and new bearings. :-)
Don't waste that much money becasue your frustrated right now.

trust me ive been down that road. I quit working at honda to go back to shool. Im going to two different schools at the moment working for my mech eng. degree. Just got engaged, and after money for tuning and buying all the new parts and overnighting everything so i could get tuned tomorrow, my checking account is in the negatives.
Ive already been sold a blown up motor, picked up a tranny that someone decided to take the countershaft out of, got sold a blown lsd, got a turbo with blown seals, a cracked intercooler, and trust me i could go on. Im sick of all the heart ache, and no, ive never even driven this car. I bought it from a buddy almost 3 years ago now as a stolen/stipped out shell.

honda bearings assembled with moly lube
Imagine you put three rods and sets of bearings in correctly, but decided on the fourth rod you didnt want to use any bearings cuz that $hiz is TiGht y0! Thats what it sounds like

What kind of bottom end is it? If it's a GSR, I've got a perfectly good GSR crank sitting around here you can have.

dude, give up, look at me. Built a car about 5 years back. Took forever building it and then sold it to get a house. I thought a I was finished with this honda stuff. I've since been building another car up and am almost done as well. I'm hoping to be finished by June for the BOTI in Joliet. When it's and and running and you're driving it, you will not regret fixing it.

Re: (paul vang)
Never give up...take it apart find out what went wrong...
I have a freind who built motor fully....finally got it installed...and when he turned the key over...he kept hearing this slight knocking sound...couldnt figure out what the hell it was...spent all nite trying to find it....he went as far as taking the head all apart, took the oil pan off...check bearings...and reassemble all in one nite! Everything looked good! Turned it on again! and still that slight knocking...couldnt figure it out...
well long story short...he took it over to stoopid for tuning they spent 12 hours on tuning, half the time figuring out that sound, and guess what it was...The vtec seloinoid was faulty and the piston inside was clanking...one week later his 3rd cylinder was detonating...
Now its all stripped down and back to the machine shop to try again! DONT GIVE UP!
