Does anyone use a 4.785 final drive Si or ITR tranny?

Default Does anyone use a 4.785 final drive Si or ITR tranny?

Ive been an allmotor junkie for quite a while now and am going to do something different. I plan to make 300+ on pump and 400+ on race gas. Is my tranny going to be way too short with these power goals? I can get a gsr tranny with lsd(stock jdm) for my tranny if I need to. LMK what you think and your experiences

If I were in your situation I would get the GSR w/LSD for your tranny. With my b16a2 stock tranny, I am at the very end of 4th crossing the line with my 240hp on street tires. I would imagine 400+ would put you into 5th gear quite a ways with that 4.785FD quite easily.

Go with the 4.785, always good to try something different.

thanks, 2 different point of views. Racing at the strip with street tires is pointless anyway, so id always use slicks, and my rev limit will be 9000, and my car weighs 2100 with me in it. Heres where ill be shifting with the tranny i currently have, on 24.5 slicks:

1st N/A 42.4
2nd 5865 65.1
3rd 6234 94.0
4th 6833 123.8

4.785 it reach fast very good i am using one of course with lsd

I would think if I got to choose between LSD and a lower final drive I would go with the LSD. That is basically the choice you have.

With your power, rev limit and slick size I think the tranny you have will be perfect.

the only thing about that is i dont think its too unlikely that ill trap more than 123 with over 400whp. otherwise id keep mine for sure

Very true. I was thinking that the #'s you put next to each gear were the RPMs you saw that speed. on me.
