Default does anyone make an oilless turbo?

just wondering if they have them about t3/t4E size that dont need oil supply lines and returns... if so what are they water cooled? links?

Really the oil is for lubrication of the spinning parts in the turbo.

a turbo with out oil will last about 3-4 minuets

i doubt it will last that long...

they make self lubricating turbocharger setups for motorcycles, but from what i hear, they have reliability issues with them....

There were those variable vane turbochargers that had their own internal oil system so it didn't need lines. I don't think they worked very well though because I haven't heard anything about them for a long time.

I've heard from some users that the vanes are easily damaged.

There is an oil less, foil bearing turbocharger application licensed to Borg Warner, and in development. It is not available for sale yet, and is most likely 2 to 4 years away.
