I will like to to know when you guys are rebuilding engines, for street/track, Do you use original Honda dealer parts or just any chain auto parts will do. Any of you guys running fast SOHC what parts are you using. Im building a turbo D16 and I just want to know is it really necessary to buy OEM Honda parts? So go ahead guys let everyone know what parts you are using.

i would only ever use OEM bearings/seals.

i've seen and had bad experiences with parts store bearings/rings/seals for hondas.

OEM for almost everything. Better quality, fit, reliability. Sometimes the price is competitive. Dont ever buy OEM parts from a dealership unless you like overpaying and taxes.

I will be using eagle rods, forge piston or vitarra, I have a eagle block guard I will used a after market head gasket to go with my ARP head studs that I also have. I'm more concern with parts like, bearings, water pump, oil pump, timming belt and tensioner ect... I guess I will be proof of what works better since I already got my water pump, timming belt & tensioner and oil pump from advance. I think I will go for the OEM bearings since it seems that, that is the oem part of choice when rebuilding. But I will like to know if anyone out there has used NOT oem parts and have had good results, I agree with everyone, I will def buy everything OEM, but most of my money went on the after market parts like the ones mention above plus turbo, intercooler,BOV, wastegate ect. So you can say that Im trying to save some money on the other parts.

only thing i like over stock is the silicon fel-pro oil pan gaskets, and I dont have a problem using continental timing belts if honda isnt avalible. Other than those I use all honda.

Another point that I want to bring is that when we think OEM parts we think that all this parts are made by the X company in this case Honda. But what we don't know is that Honda pays outside companies to build stuff for them. For example who makes the calipers and brake pads for Honda, Nissin and this is only one example. I think that if we find out which company Honda relies to build them good parts we can buy from this same companies for a fraction of the price.
