Do you notice your hood gets super hot?
After driving my car around town normally, I notice that my hood is very hot to the touch and that my engine bay is emitting a lot of heat when I open the hood. I may be sounding too paranoid, but wondering if this is completely normal or if my engine is running too hot.

I notice that too once I got the turbo put in, so I picked up one of these.
Just in case you are completely blind, it's a vented CF hood. Lots of hot air comes out of those vents. I can see steam coming out when it's raining.. Not that I drive in the rain, it's just .. I had no choice at the time.
Eh.. just tossing out an idea.

a cheap > $1 trick to help vent your engine bay is to add some washers to increase your hood height in the rear

Yeah, it kind of hard to the see, it's in teh shadow in teh first pic. Look where the hood drops down and that's where the vents are. Which also is right above the manifold when teh hood is down, which is conviently the hottest part of the engine bay.

just get a sheet of aluminum and make a heat shield to cover the manifold. tack weld nuts on the manifold so you can use short bolts to fasten the heat shield onto the manifold.
had the same problem before but after i made a heat shield, temperatures dropped and it's not that hot anymore.

If you get caught in a downpour after running hard, you could very easily crack or warp your manifold! That is why i would never get a hood with the vent right over the turbo! The paint on the underside of my hood is baking off but who cares.
