Default Do resonators reduce Hp on turbocharged cars?

Im planing on putting a 3inch exhaust system from downpipe to all the way back. I wanted to know if i had a 3inch resonator installed to reduce the noise, will it reduce hp gains?

Thanks

not really. The resonator will just supress the noise. It will slighlty maybe 1-4 hp difference but not something like you losing by keeping your cat in there. That freaking honda cats are ***.

B18Bturbo is correct, in theory it will take away some power, but not noticeable.

nope
Would it be worth having one welded in? I heard Thermal is hella loud! I don't want loud, I just want it to sound good and low. I don't want a ricey exhuast sound either!!!!!

I think if I ever get Thermal I will do that. I don't want it to be to loud.

Thats what im planing on doing. I take a lot of long trips, and having a loud exhaust can get annoying.

You can get that stealth cone put in your thermal for free. Not sure how it affects the hp and tq numbers tho.

Well, a resonator is a muffler (glasspack). If you have no muffler, then put one on, you will lose power. How much depends, but if you have a resonator, you have two mufflers.

Just get a glasspack where the perforations inside are just holes - in otherwords, they are not stamped to where they protrude into the exhaust flow path...or something like that.

resonators pretty much restrict air flow. but for the amount of power you get from a 3 inch exhaust system... a few hps wont matter. thermal is loud... i would definitely get the resonator if you live in cali. a 3inch downpipe and exhaust would be so cool though... if you didnt have to worry about these police officers here at the bay area.
