Do I need sleeves @300whp, if yes is Benson overkill?
Well i'm going to get a t3/t4 setup so I need to build it up. there's been a debate weather I need sleeves or not for only 300whp or so? is it any safer with them or not? don't worry about tuning, it's gonna be good with hondata...
if i do need them, other than Benson, what other sleeves are good? how about those MID type (modular integrade deck, like semiclosed or something)
?

I remember when I was in your predicament. "Hey Bro", I said to my brother, "5psi max.......only 5 pounds, ok?". Now that's blossomed into 20+ pounds that I will run in the future. Now my block is receiving sleeves, rods, and pistons.
I'd sleeve it, but that's my opinion. DO you need it for 300whp? nah, but it's always good to plan ahead

lol, i was saying no you dont need them.
but these guys are correct in a sense. You will want to go higher so if you have the time and money i would.
however to run 300whp you do not NEED to get it sleeved

If you have the cash get the sleeves because I have only known a few people that haven't wanted to turn up the boost once they felt it.

No, sleeves aren't necessart, I have personally seen 400+WHP on stock sleeves...aftermarket rods, pistons and blockguard only ....been doing this over a year now and its a daily driver
....but I have seen this too on a sleeved motor <shrugs shoulders>

Get the sleeves. I was happy for a few weeks on 6.5 psi, than I turned it up to around 9. I loved it and decided to push it a little more, to around 10. Shortly after my motor blew, and I still needed more boost. BTW this was on a b18c, so it wasn't by any means slow.

was it the sleeves?
I definitly say don't resleve. People run 350+whp on stock sleeves all the time. and like 450WHP+ on stock sleeves with a block guard.

i highly doubt you cracked a sleeve unless it was not tuned AT ALL even then....most likely was the piston rings.
i wouldn't sleeve at 300whp, however, if I COULD afford to do whatever I wanted to my motor..i would get sleeves. They wont hurt you any

Why spend the money on sleeves when you could get a nice fuel setup and get it tuned. That way your car is safe at your desired HP. And like people said you do not have to sleeve for high hp, but your also shooting for 300 hp.
Id just say f the sleeves for now and tune it.

Re: Do I need sleeves @300whp, if yes is Benson overkill? (redturbocivic)
I'm pretty sure Jeff(boosted hybrid) is going to shoot for about 550 on stock sleeves. So I would say even if you are going to turn it up you wont need them unless you are going 500+ to be safe.
