i'm throwing some endyn 9.5:1 pistons into my toasted H22; along with a golden eagle sleeving and decking and honing, eagle rods, and wiseco rings.
given that these are not-stock pistons, do i need to worry about valve clearances or anything? i assume with *lower* compression it's not an issue. just being extra sure... tia

As far as clearance, just make sure your pistons do not sit above the deck when they are put at top - dead - center. There is a bit of leway, although it should not happen. Just adjust your valves to stock spec, unless otherwise specified, and you will be just fine.
Good luck!

Re: do i need to check clearances (dsmturbosi)
it there any reason to believe that a slightly lower compression piston (9.5:1 vs 10.0:1) would sit *higher* than a stock piston?

Ultimately you should clay the piston tops and measure the thickness of the clay that gets squashed in the valve relief's... each rod manufacture has specs that you have to be within or you are going to smack valves. Dont go by how it looks with the head off. Use an old head gasket and torque the head to spec. Lock your vtec pins in the on position (of course it has more lift on the cam) rotate the motor over one full cycle. Pull the head and measure the thickness of the clay and you should hit no closer than .035" for clearance with the Eagle's.

if your 9.5 slugs are a dish type, chances are you have plenty of valve clearance, are there valves reliefs cut into your piston tops??? claying is a goodd idea, but everything will stretch a bit while runing high rpm.
