Do b16a2 respond to boost well? are they good to boost?
I am going to be putting together a junkyard turbo in a short period here. And i was wondering, is the b16a2 a good engine to boost? some people have been flaming me saying its not worth my time, get an H22 and throw twin t66 turbos on with a 500shot of NAWWZZ!!!
but i need some serious replies, because the people that say oh "that engine isn't good enough, throw a 454 big block in there, xxxx engines are a waste of time"
and the funny thing is, I posted a couple months back on an All motor SOHC setup to run 13's and there were LOTS of helpful people, and now I was wondering if the same thing could be accomplished with DOHC, and people told me it was a complete waste!
sorry for the rant,
any help is much appreciated!
BTW: I still have the stock 98 ex in-tank fuel pump, should i upgrade that along with the injectors for stock 5psi? or will just a new fuel pump do (cause im using that stock EX pump on a b16)..
thanks,
mike

Re: Do b16a2 respond to boost well? are they good to boost? (SlowB16)
i am thinkin' about having my uncle make a turbo manifold, using my AEM CAI for part of the charge piping, and using 3" radiator hose for the rest of the charge piping, and using the filter from my CAI for the intake side of the turbine. Using SS-line for oil feed, and rubber radiator hose (smaller) for return..and custom make a downpipe with flexpipe.
any input on what i need "just to get it running" i know i will need more for FMU LATER, and REAL charge piping...but i want a ghetto turbo for now.

Aye you need the fmu right away if you don't add extra fuel kiss your engine goodbye, I suggest you learn more about FI before doing the conversion, or you may well blow your engine...................

notice how i have a big thing about more fuel in my first post? i suggest you research more...FMU doesn't necessarily = more fuel...FMU = Fuel Management Unit.
i think its obvious i need more fuel...i discussed that in my first post at the end..
but thanks for ur input

An FMU will add more fuel when you are boosting if you want your car to be running at all then you will need it right away not later :hammerOr didn't you say this?) I can see why you got flamed .........

i know what one does, im not an idiot...i was simply asking if it would be enough fuel under full-boost to run rich enough. now u can stop the condesending tone and help me by simply saying yes/no (meaning i would need some other sort of FMU to richen under boost), or leave and stop being a weenie...

You have not stated what fmu you will be using?? I am simply warning you not to boost the car without one OK. As you implied you were going to get one later.
Post up what fmu you will be using and perhaps I will comment generally you want a inline high pressure pump when using a fmu . You find you here http://www.strong.dk/girl.php

thanks for the input, i will probably simply be using a new walbro 255lph in-tank pump, with DSM 440cc injectors w/resistor packs. Tuning with a vafc.
