Default DIY $5 - Fiberglass muffler, will this work?

SO winter is coming and well 3" open downpipe just isnt going to work in the winter, need something quieter to idle my car with and such

I was thinking of strapping a peashooter exhaust on the car, but I want it to cost next to nothing

I have a gutted cat converter here that I wanna stuff maybe a squar emeter of fiberglass matting into after a dodge ram cat convertor, then probably some 2.5" piping dumping behind a rear tire

Will it work?

perhaps if you welded a pipe in there, drilled tins of holes in it then surrounded it, yeah that would work. clogging the exhaust is not advised. I love the idea of fabing your own parts gives something to the car when you make some of the parts yourself.

wow, awesome idea. melt down a bunch of fiberglass to clog up your exhaust. that oughta be fun for at least 5-6 seconds...

get some fiberglass silencer packing, $5-$10 at a local motocross shop.. use someting to wrap it around (the pipe with hole idea) and use some masking tape to hold it so it doesnt fall out.
here is an online shop that sells it too http://www.mxdeals.com/packing-silencer-fmf.html

I wanna add a flex pipe, then a v8 cat convertor, then a fiberglass stuffed gutted cat, then some 2" piping dumping behind the rear tire

Just for the winter to keep th noise down for my insanely picky girlfriend, then its coming off
