Default dirt cheap golden eagle 83mm block , crower rods and more only 900.00 brand new

heres the story i was building a fully built b16 83mm block i had everything done i sent it to the machine shop to have it honed and alignhoned
i was told that all the main bolt threads were jacked up and needed to be helicoiled
so that was done and i dont know what happened but someone did something wrong and cracked one of the bearing saddles<--- i dont know how to spell...
so any way im selling everything i have to start all over , i was told by two other machine shops that it was easily repairable i just dont want to go through all the crap again... so im selling it all dirt cheap to start over
crower rods (the good ones) Je pistons costom 83mm 10:1 compression arp main studs i will also throw in the golden eagle block for any one who wants to try and fix it.
everything has 0 miles except for the rods which were used one month but they have been x-rayed for cracks and balanced and honed

im trying to get 1000.00 for it but ill entertain any offers

My 84.5mm B16A calculates to be a 1.738 liter yours would be more of a 1.7 liter. Just fyi good luck on your sale, it's a great deal will pass the word around here for ya.

I wasn't asking as if your crank came with it. I just wanted to know, incase I decided to by it. I would be purchasing the crank also from crower, not from you.

also its about a 1.8 its like 1.765 or something like that
My math gives me 1666.46......cc's for the displacement of an 83 mm bore engine with a stock 77mm crank.

My 84.5mm B16A calculates to be a 1.738 liter yours would be more of a 1.7 liter
Using the same math, just replacing the bore, I get 1727.24.....cc's for an 84.5 mm bore with a stock 77mm crank.

(pi)(radius)(radius)(stroke)(# of cylinders)=displacement

83mm bore=41.5mm radius for the bore=4.15cm
77mm stroke=7.7 cm stroke
(3.14159)(4.15)(4.15)(7.7)(4)=1666.46......

84.5mm bore=42.25 mm radius for the bore=4.225cm
(3.14159)(4.225)(4.225)(7.7)(4)=1727.24........

Sorry guys. I'm bored and just doing some math problems for the fun of it. Somebody check it

You can fix that crack with a nice welding job, by melting it back together than with an insert kit on that thing.

Probably cost $100 to fix if that.

ok, so i took the block to have the saddle and one main tap fixed since it had a crack in it....
i have it all welded up nice, and take it to the machine shop where they will machine it and re-tap it...but i get a call today from them saying it is pointless for them to work on the main hole, because all the other holes have been helicoiled wrong and the bolts just wobble around in them...to fix them, they say the holes would all have to be rewelded and tapped, which he says is more work that its even worth...
so my question is, should "gary" have to pay to have it all fixed, or to have the sleeves put in another block or...am i just being bitchy about a sale gone bad?

but, truthfully i really dont know what to do at this point, i paid to have the crack fixed, which is pointless (more money out of my pocket)...and i dont want to seem bitter about this but, when you sell someone something, and leave out a large detail like that, i would say its wrong...

and ive already purchased pistons for this setup and bearings, and all that stuff...so tell me guys what do you think should happen here??

Sounds like he should take the block back and refund your money and the money you spent to repair the block.

Damn, that really sucks. How much work (money) does it take to move GE sleeves over to a new block?

Well, that's neither here nor there. The guy that sold it may or may not have known all the others were messed up. There's no way to prove it either way. I would not plan on getting your money back from him.

What SHOULD happen is -

1. The shop that focked up the taps should refund the money in full. Have your shop call them and tell them what's up. They should refund the original owner and he should send the money on to you. (Good luck getting the shop to do the refund though).

2. Hopefully, that should be enough money to pay for the work that now needs to be done, so have it done and enjoy your badass B16.

They already admitted that they did it wrong. If you didn't sign something saying that they could *** it up and not pay you for it, ask for $$ to cover damages. If they won't pay take them to the full extent of the law. You paid them so you would not be responsable if something broke, but they broke it and now you should not be responsable for their mistake.

so i dont want to come off being a dick but i clearly stated everything that i knew was wrong you knew you were going to have to spend money to have to get it fixed
i also sent you new crower rods- a 600.00 value
a new micropolished crank-225.00 value
and new arp main studs 100.00 value
total of 925.00 with out the block so you in essence got a block we both thought could be fixed for free.
im very sorry it cant be fixed but you did know what you were getting into i let you know everything
once again im sorry

I think you missed something Dustin...the buyer's shop is saying that the seller's shop screwed up the rest of the holes...

hit the nail on the head there!!!

well im not gonna be bitter about it, its not gonna do me any good to get pissed off...already passed that point anyhow
the fact is, we did know that there was a problem with the saddle being cracked, and i fully admit gary told me about that...it was no big deal, an easy fix...
but you "egcivicturbo" as the seller, failed to mention was there were more problems with the block...and it is your responsibility as the seller to know what you are selling so problems like this dont arise...
but, yes it was a good deal...but a deal is only as good as it ends up in the end, and this case not so good...

I'm not trying to ruin your name or anything, which is why i havent called you a scammer, which some people very well might have done...but i feel i was wronged in this situation, and you showing no sympathy and basically telling me its not your problem anymore leads me to believe that you are a bad seller...

first of all i never told you it wasnt my problem and and i dont know how i didnt show sympathy, i didnt know that all the holes were screwed up or i would have told you i was only going off what two machine shops told me was wrong...
i dont know how you can call me a "bad seller" i told you everything upfront i was completly honest with you i did everything i told you i was going to do i shipped it out when i told you i was going to i even paid for half the shipping.
sorry but i think you just bitter that its not going the way you want it to, and you taking it out on me and making me look like the "bad guy" but i told you upfront all that i knew was wrong with it i threw in everything i had for the block i sold it for a killer deal because i knew it was going to take some work to fix the cracks
all i can say is what do you want me to do , you baught something you knew need machine work and now that it needs more you want to back out...
and i never told you it wasnt my problem i want to handle this in a profesional manner i dont ever think i gave you the impression that it wasnt my problem i said what do you want me to do?

you know what spoolinls you have my work number my home number and you can IM me but you decide to start a thread before you even talk to me about whats going on i have to hear about it from my roomate now ill never be able to sell anything because what youve said about me being a "bad seller" im so ******* pissed off right now , thats so fucked up to go to everyone else before you talk to the person you baught it from you know im an honest person i never had any intention of making this deal go sour i told you everything i knew was wrong with the block im sorry there was more wrong then i new , if i knew that i wouldnt have sold it thats for sure, but you wanted it in its condition
im sorry but you baught a block that was damaged and you said you sould fix it im honestly sorry there was more wrong if you baught it anywhere else im sure they wouldnt refund your money either so all i can say i hope golden eagle can put the sleeves into another b16a block and if you want ill be getting one in about a month ill give it to you if you pay the shipping
thats all i have to offer sorry your un happy but thats all i can do

I happen to know egcivicturbo personally and i was up to date on all the stuff going on with his block. It seems kind of odd that 2 different machine shops would just "overlook" those other problems. I know for a fact that he had no idea of these "other" problems and i assure you that if he did he wouldnt have not told you about them. He is an honest person, and wouldnt "scam" anybody. I personally think that even if you do have to get a new block that you still got one hell of a deal, and shouldnt complain about the price you payed. What assurace do you have from the shop you took it too that they didnt mess it up? All i am saying is that egcivicturbo wouldnt have sold you a messed up block without telling you so.. He did tell you there where some problems, and you bought it anyway. So from "MY" point of view this is out of his hands.
