Did you turbo your first Honda?
Did any of you guys turbo your first car? You may know a lot of the technical things about turbo and all, but how is it really owning and maintaing one?

I did (and then it got stolen). I think most of the people on this board have turbo'd their first as well. That's the glory that is honda-tech. I think tuning issues become more an issue than maintenance.

Re: Did you turbo your first Honda? (lazy bum shaughn)
I turbo'd my first and only Honda, and it's been holding up fine so far. It's my grocery getter, daily driver, winter beater, and street racer all in one. It's not really anymore maintainence than it ever was. More frequent oil changes and double checking my lines underhood is the only difference.
Mentally though, I'm much more paranoid about any noises I hear. If I go over a branch I might think 'gee, I hope that didn't snag my oil return line'...but my car's running fine later so it's not a big deal. As long as everything goes right, turbo cars are only slightly more maintenance than a stock vehicle.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I see a lot of guys have a lot of boost knowledge here, do you guys really have that many problems with turbo?

I turboed my first honda and it's been the best choice I've made for the car. I'ts a daily driver(school, girlfriend, home), about 75-100 miles a day. Havent had any major problems yet, but I'm a conservative driver.
I wouldn't trade my car for anything!
96 hatch + 2000 GSR(stock) + Drag Kit = 250hp

This is my first and only honda, its turbo and also my grocery getter, ride to work and school, daily driver, drag/street racer. Just like someone else said there really is no extra maintenance unless you drive it like you stole it every day, then you can count on something blowing up fairly quickly

My first honda was a '91 'lude with the B21A1 and I wrecked it way before I was making enough money to even contemplate forced induction. My second Honda is my '91 'rex with the B18A1 and it getting a full build and forced induction while i'm in Kuwait.

Do any of you guys regret going turbo?
What kind of problems do you run into?
Were yall worried at first when boosting?

Re: Did you turbo your first Honda? (lazy bum shaughn)
I'm not boosted yet because I am trying to do most of my build right the first time so I can have minimal problems on the amount of boost I am going to run. I don't think I will regret being boosted as I already know how much time, effort and money goes into this.
