Timing should be at about 16BTC

Did a 3rd gear pull with my FMU JRSC and towards the end it was just letting out a large plum of black smoke. Shouldn't that be rich? Anyways. Later when I got off the freeway my car sounds like a WRX tugboat and idle is very rough. The car is a bit hot for me to check. But what would cause the car to run rough and have a rough idle? As the RPMs get higher, the car seems okay. But as RPM gets lower its rougher and the car shakes more with the roughness. </TD></TR></TABLE>

I had the injector and standalone before but had to get smogged at test only so yada yada yada and was thinking about selling the car in this form so its legal... than this just happened.... so I can't check it out until this weekend since I'm out of town on work... driving the WRX sounding integra

Re: Did I blow my motor? (Black-LS)
okay, drove it again this morning and saame symtoms. (Again I'm out of town away from home and have no tools to work on the car other than a screwdriver). But I was wondering, if guesses to my problem could be narrowed down. The car feels like its missing, which goes along with the plug problem. But as the RPMs climb, the problem/miss is not as noticeable.
I've also driven cars with blown ringlands and it didn't miss or drive like this. Also my car has NO smoke from the tail pipe as of now when I drive it.
I'm going to search on the symtoms of a burned valve, don't really know what that means.
as of now I'm still driving a integra that sounds like its powered by a WRX Tugboat motor.

Re: Did I blow my motor? (rondigs)
well hes kinda of stuck so hes gonna have to drive it.
I bent a valve in a gsr once and it did the same thing.Lower RPM's it was real rough but then smoothed out in higher R's. It was still noticable in all RPM's though.

took your advice. Cylinder #1 was fouled with fuel. I just put in a new plug and still it drives the same. Is it possible this is a ignition problem? Going to try to take the dist. cap off during my lunch break to see if anything is wrong in there. Also I do hear a audible ticking sound. I'm guessing a bent valve? But I didn't over rev the motor. This all started during a freeway pull probably in 3rd and when I saw a huge plume of BLACK smoke in my rearview mirror I let off... I was probably at about 7000 RPM then.

Next step is a compression and / or leakdown test. </TD></TR></TABLE>
well if you dont have a compression tester at home, i would pick one up as well from autozone or whatever. it will be like $30 - 40. and its just as easy as changing the plugs
good luck
