Woohoo!! Now get some baseline datalogs in! Practice!

Greg got my downpipe wrapped up last week and we're just waiting on the intercooler to get back from coating, then it ships!

Pretty excited. I'm wondering how long it's going to take me to get it all together and troubleshot before I'm ready for dyno tuning. I'm hoping only 2-3 weeks.

Went with a recirc dump tube? That looks like a bunch of not fun trying to bolt onto the turbo.

Yep, I wanted to try the recirculating dump tube this time around. I remember my last setup was a 5-bolt and it wasn't the easiest, but I could still get to everything. I'll figure it out once it gets here.

Awesome! It will be much quieter now. Probably hear the turbo with near crystal clarity though. I like the open dump, just sounds nasty!! Given that I will be a lump on the sofa for a while now, I'll have oodles of time to look into the benefits and consequences of a recirc.
As for the 5-bolt.. It may be easier since it's a "custom" DP, but my last 2 were 5 bolt "universal" and it was challenging at best to reach all the bolts.. lol! The V-band has me spoiled now in that area and I'd probably never go 5-bolt again unless it was absolutely necessary. 4-bolt, maybe.. Hopefully you'll be installing that kit in a week!!

"Intimidating" is putting it lightly! It looks as if you want to start crying like a 5 year old at bed time if you need to pull it apart for anything.. I know I would..

Yeah, I did like the nastiness of the open dump, but the soot was nasty too, haha. I think Greg has bolts with the kit that will work (he just posted a video of bolts dropping into the 5-bolt flange on IG). I'm not opposed to looking into using a stud and nut as well if need be. I actually wanted to go with V-band, but it doesn't work on the SX500 kit if keeping AC.

Unfortunately no, it wouldn't. Keeping the AC leaves ya with the 5-bolt option. I'll have to see said video out of curiosity. I was wondering if that silly flange had any better approach.

agreed. That's why I chose V-band flange for my setup.

What are folks using for boost reference lines to the BOV and WG? Last time I did this I think I used rubber fuel hose with the embedded braid in it and hose clamps over barbed fittings. Are the push-to-connect hoses just a fad? Especially for the WG, I'd be worried about some of the plastic on the push-to-connect fittings melting - or is that even a concern? I'm definitely function over form, and would rather have something chunky and ugly that works over being able to post engine bay pics that get the oohs and ahhs.

I pulled the car in the garage last night, so she's taken her last NA breath. Surgery starts tonight.

Regular rubber vacuum line, or silicone, works fine for the 1/4" I.D. stuff. Just make sure to use zip ties or tiny hose clamps on the ends so they don't pop off.

I always wondered that about the plastic quick connects too, I wanted the ease of the quick connect so I went with brass ones. I come from a semi tractor/trailer background so I may be biased but I'm totally cool with over kill since these fittings/nylon hose see 120psi day in and day out.

I have a bunch of extra line/fittings, PM me and I can donate a care package!

^^ This.. Zip ties with a pliers assist; zip em tight by hand, then give them a couple clicks with a pull from a pair of pliers. Done and done. Lol!

Yep, got 3 packages today! I got the stock exhaust and intake off, installed the Thermal exhaust, and started mocking up some things before I got sick of the heat this evening.

This setup is going to be super clean as if it isn't already

The thermal exhaust is looking good! I like how you went with recirculating the wastegate.

In for updates

Thanks. The Thermal R&D part number to fit an EG coupe is B131-C131. I ordered it through Go-Autoworks.

I ran into my first snag of the install - I'm going to have to use a different place than I had originally planned for a coolant supply to the turbo. Even with a tight elbow the turbo hits the block's coolant plug adapter I had installed. Clocking the turbo further down puts the CHRA at a less than ideal angle. No big deal, I'm going to put the stock plug back in the block and probably run the line from the water pipe on the back of the block.
