Darton Dry Sleeves GSR install
Started cutting for sleeves today..interesting..only have phone pics from today, but couple cool ones.
Got 1 and 3 to size. GSR #300-014 sleeves were 3.476 o.d. at ambient temp in shop...about 95 today..lol
Darton recommended 0 to .001 clearance..we hit 3.4765 on both..woot! Rottler F68a ftw!
Not gonna be any aluminum left in some places at top of flange. They'll overlap slightly.
Took alot of passes. I see why it costs so much.

Re: Darton Dry Sleeves GSR install
I'll load some tomorrow..gotta get 'em off a non-smart phone.
Try to get some more Monday with a camera.
Just hanging around mostly while Gary runs the Rottler.
Yes..wet are much stronger..but much more expensive and more cutting. Not wealthy.
Extensive machining to put that system in... plus line bore afterword I believe, and he has more experience with these from V8 work.
Rich777 and I are gonna see how these hold up. He's about to turn the key on his. Rich has B16. This is my kid's engine..hopefully T1 will tune it.

Got 2 and 4 in today..
Pics and viddies coming soon.
Bore and hone tomorrow...won't be there for that..missed enuf work already. Gonna go for .004~.0045 ptw clearance.
It's all up to Lupe and his mad honing skills.
Diamond cutters on Rottler HP6 hone like this one

Sweet! So I take it you're installing them the way we most recently spoke about?
Diamond honed as well hey? There's not many places over here that do it. You should have a nice finish on them when it's all done.

Re: Darton Dry Sleeves GSR install
Well..it's Saturday..just picked up block. Damn..a couple days turned into 30.
Machinists..what are you gonna do with 'em?
I think there's a different time continuum in automotive machine shops.
I believe it's Venusian time.
A Day on Each of the Planets
A day is the length of time that it takes a planet to rotate on its axis (360°). A day on Earth takes almost 24 hours.
The planet with the longest day is Venus; a day on Venus takes 243 Earth days. (A day on Venus is longer than its year; a year on Venus takes only 224.7 Earth days).
Important thing is good work was done. (And beer was served shortly after arrival)
Decked 'em flat in hopes of stock-like seal
Wow..epic thread fail on pics. I'll get this thread back up to speed soon.
