Dart block worth for the price?
 

Is dart block any good for the price or just rubuild my short block with sleeves
which one is worth it plus im aiming for 600plus hp with my setup. Would it last forever on the long run.

Choice A will work fine.

In the long run detonation will kill ANYTHING if not tuned correctly.

dart block is more than sleeves, the oil passages are all reworked to flow better and you dont ever have to worry about sinky sleeves

im just going to let you know. If you getting a Dart Block make sure you have a extra b-series lying around now, because your going to need all the senors and everything else.

and it was made to have sleeves , not something that was adapted

This is true, I'm glad I had a B18C6 to strip for all the small parts to swap over to my talldeck Dart. It's expensive shit if starting from scratch. And for me it worked out very well as I got a good deal on the Dart in the classifieds here, as I can't think of any shops here in Norway I would trust to do a sleeve job for me, so shipping out the B18C6 block would have owned me. So I actually got away with the Dart block for about the same money as sleeving my stock block would have ended up costing me, and now I have that one as a spare.

This thread should be merged with the other one with nearly the same topic a few posts down.

Darts are a high quality block but you will spend a lot more than you think. They must be bored, honed and I feel surfaced before using. If a shop does not know how to bore this block properly, the sleeves will raise up during the bore. Then it gets surfaced back to flat. When you start the motor, the sleeves will drop back down to their original spot and will cause the head gasket to blow. One solution is to bore with a deck plate on. There is more to this block than meets the eye, so all I am saying is just be careful if you choose the Dart.

Gotta agree wih Earl. You will need all kinds of parts, EVERYTHING. And instead of the honda style ringed freeze pluss it uses standard pipe plugs. Not the best in the world for sealing for the long haul.

Sleeves are supporting 800 + horsepower. . . and I am yet to see someone able to put ALL of that horsepower to the ground. Hell, 600 is going to be a HUGE struggle to get traction.

I just don't understand why you'd need a block any better than that. . .

Your motor is only as good as your tune, and a dart will fail in the same ways a sleeved oem block will fail if the tune isn't there.

Why not save $1500 + . . . that's a lot of change
