Default Damn, my car is STILL running hot!

I replaced my thermostat and refilled the coolant, bled it, and yet the damn thing still heated up on me today. I know for a fact that the intercooler and stock front end are restricting airflow through the radiator, but thats why I bought the fluidyne and fan which runs all the time. Whats really weird about this is that the car only heats up after it has been running for about twenty minutes or so, and it sort of bogs for a few seconds. Almost immediately following the bog, the temperature gauge goes up to at least half way.
Before I got the turbo, the gsr motor i have ran fine, and never once heated up or showed any signs of overheating. When I used the nitrous kit it still never heated up and that was with a stock civic ex radiator. Now I have the Fluidyne (for a civic, not the integra) and fan which always runs. I figured that would be sufficient, but I guessed wrong. Please help me out as I'm dumbfounded and getting extremely frustrated. TIA.

How can you tell if the car is overheating? my temp gauge only goes to about half way, which is the same as before I put the turbo on... but is it accurate at all??? when I pop the hood it's really HOT! I think some aftermarket hoods with air vents would help a lot... you see how restrictive the stock front end is, there's no air going into the engine bay.

if you're already running the fluidyne, perhaps run an oil cooler. i know they work wonders for n/a applications. couple of my friends use them.

maybe up the fuel a bit to lower intake temps.

I believe my temp gauge is pretty accurate. It HAS gone all the way up one time, but didn't quite overheat. I don't think the gauge is the problem as when I pop the hood, it is very hot.

Have you checked/replaced the waterpump? As soon as I put my turbo on, waterpump went out. There is no way you should be running HOT with a Fluidyne! My friend has a Fluidyne radiator and it runs almost too cold! I run turbo on my car for a while. I keep my stock fans running all the time and my car stay extremely cold. Almost too cold.
just my $.02

Take your car to a friendly smog shop. Pop the radiator cap (after it has cooled down some) and have the smog tech put the exhaust probe over the radiator opening while the engine is running. If his smog machine measures hydrocarbons coming out of the radiator, you have a bad head gasket. Exhaust gasses are being pushed from the combustion chamber into the cooling system. Do this BEFORE you spend any more money on fixes that won't help. Good luck!

Check for headgasket leak

imo an oil cooler isnt really needed... u trade off the cooler oil for less oil pressure... i wouldnt personnally do that

yeah, I was gonna tell you the head gasket blew too, but others got to it before I did. I had the same problem, turns out that I blew my head gasket form too much nitrous...

so far, those are all good responses. i had this same problem when i had my turbo kit first installed. it bogged in stop and go traffic and the temp jumped 3/4 of the way up. it hasn't happened since but, i was told that there might have been an air bubble in the cooling system when it was bled. that might be the problem. secondly, you SHOULD buy the redline water wetter. i have heard a lot of good things about it. it won't hurt you in the wallet too much: $7.00 or so. thirdly, try a mugen or spoon thermostat: $70+. if that doesn't work, take your factory thermostat and drill holes around the edges for better coolant flow. that was done to my car and it runs really cool. (that is according to the factory water temp gauge). and when i pop my hood it is extremely hot under the engine bay as well.

Thanks for all of the replies. I don't think it is the headgasket, because we did a compression test and got 175s all across. It is possible for the waterpump to only partially work or is it an all or nothing peice of equipment?

Try using Redlines's "Water Wetter". That **** works pretty damn good.

Pull the thermostat and start the motor cold without the upper hose attached. Water pump should immediately push coolant out the top. But that's not your problem. It can be a tiny exhaust leak into the cooling system. Pumping a small amount of 500 degrees exhaust gas into the coolant will overheat quickly but it won't show in a compression test. Do the smog wand as I previously suggested.
