damaged chipped fins in turbo

damaged chipped fins in turbo
i bought a used turbo and looked at the fins. there a small chips on the edges...will it affect anything or should i get a rebuild..its a greddy turbo ..the td04 15g...and how much are rebuilds?. thanks

I had a friend that had some bad fin damage happen to his 16G on his Conquest. He didn't have the money for a rebuild and just ran the turbo with the damaged fins. It boosted fine and lasted for over 30,000 miles till he put on a boost controller and accidently overboosed to 25psi and finally blew the turbo.

he blew the turbo at 25 psi? if anything i woulda thought he'd blow up his motor first.

and how can you tell if the seals in the turbo are leaing oil? i cant tell if theres oil or just carbon from the exhaust...

i dont have an intercooler....do the charge pipes come with the turbo kit or with the intercooler kit?.
