Default Daily Drive GSR turbo choices: SC61 or smaller turbo ie GT28R/S or holset?

So I haven't turbo'd my car yet... getting ready to though. This will be on a daily driver (sometimes 400 mile trips - one way). I am debating if I should go with a smaller turbo... veterans in this turbo game say they love the smaller disco potato. I dunno what i'm going to do...

-stock motor
-neukin ram horn
-exhaust cutout - stock exhaust/open turbo

this car will hit the track occasionally.

maybe i'll just sell my turbo setup and my car and shell out some cash for an sti wagon or audi wagon...

dreams.............

just ranting, no one else to talk to about it

sc61 and a gt28rs are apples and oranges. What kind of tracking do you plan to do? For road course/auto x I would get the GT28rs but for drag I would recommend the sc61.

sorry, strip.. occassionally, maybe autox once in a blue moon... but mainly daily driving... i know it's apples and oranges, but they have their perks in my situation imo... ie do i want lag (poor man's traction control), do i want instant power?.... i dunno...

Go with a ball bearing turbo that's in between a gt28rs and sc61.

But if I had to choose I would pick the sc61... lag is my friend.

Boost is addicting, so you might as well keep your sc61, just incase you want more power.

Nah man keep what ya have. The b18c1/5 is the best motor Honda ever made imo. You should be able to get 300whp daily no problem on your stock motor, and if ya want more power you just need some forged rods/pistons.

If you DON'T intend to build your motor, I would say a SC61 is too big. POWERBAND not POWER makes for a fun street car IMHO. One of the locals that I tuned is making ~300whp in a stock 94 GSR. Head has never been off the motor, OEM 120K mile headgasket. 12.8@118 on Azenis with no weight reduction other than rear seats removed. It's a cheap *** turbo setup, but he has 7psi at 3850 RPM, and carries power all the way to redline (albeit with a little boost creep - 9.1psi @ 8200 redline) He's been whooping the **** out of numerous cars with bigger numbers for the simple reason that his **** spools quick and his powerband is huge.

Food for thought, but I'm sure the h-t bandwagon will remind me SC61 ROCKS YO! DON'T BE DISSING PRECISION TURBOS YO! HOT CHICKS DIG SC61s

I was stuck in the same situation...heres my thread about it...
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1310606

I didnt know what to do either...what i was afriad of was that if i went with the disco potato, and wanted more power, I would have to upgrade...well what I came up with was the sc34...pretty good spool time, can support 400whp (as much as Im going to push with stock sleeves) another alternative is the gt2871r, Tony the tiger has a good thread going on about the diff. between the gt28rs and gt2871r...

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1276407

another good turbo comparison...

Jeff (my example) was running a cheap tubular turbo manifold and a .63A/R hotside 60trim T3/T04E - the default Peakboost kit turbo.

Dyno chart of the car with a 2.5" DP. Trapped 114 w/ 2.5, 118 mph AND spooled mass faster with 3" dp. 7psi spring, creeping to 9psi @redline
dyno sheet
