D16z6 engine/turbo questions
Go easy on me. Im not experienced. Everything i know is pretty much just from reading online...
I just inherited a bone stock del sol with the d16z6 in it.
Im gonna put a lot into since it was free..
Got a few questions to start with...
A good shop will do any work btw...
HP goal is 300. Just looking for a really quick summer car here.
1. During 4400 - 5000 rpms, theres a loud buzzing noise. What could that be? Vtec solenoid?
2. Looking for turbo kits. RevHard seems to be the best? Is that right?
3. Port n Polish the head---I understand the basic concept but will that increase the bore?
4. Is honing and/or milling the block a good route? Why or why not?
5. Is Hondata s300 the best tuning solution?
6. I already got aem sri, skunk2 tb,im,e in the car. Will the downpope eliminate the catalytic converter or do i need to get one?
7. Getting skunk2 valves.. As far as cam, springs, retainers, is COMP a good brand?
Thanks everyone!

Re: D16z6 engine/turbo questions
Read some more.
***Forced Induction Forum FAQ***
SOHC Boosted Set ups! Chime IN...a place for the SINGLE SLAMS
Stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Find a 300hp build and copy it. That simple.
I noticed you never mentioned ANYTHING about engine internals, instead you concentrated on the head. You won't make anywhere NEAR 300hpp on a stock block.
Do a lot more reading. Chances are you won't get this thing running by the end of summer unless you just hand it over to a shop and write a blank check.

"Fastening stuff"? lol
Find a 300hp build and copy it. If you want it fast, that's the best advice I can give you. That and do plenty of reading. Nothing you're asking is new territory. Search and you'll find all the answers you'll need.
