another note: car ran pretty good, didnt seem like it was missing or anything. plugs checked ok, combustion chambers were clean, pistons were clean, cylinder walls still had nice cross hatchings, runners were clean, exhaust had no smoke, no smoke out of the dipstick / valvecover.

Boost leak maybe? I can't believe you tore down the entire motor already.

its a D series! i had it completely apart the same day i went to the track.

i dont know about boost leak.... the gauge was steady on 10-11psi. i think there is a possibilty the head was lifting and the centers of the HG were leaking compression/boost.
