Default D16Y8 stock engine turbocharged: What is the most power these can handle?

Did a quick search, couldn't find any info.

What is the MAX horsepower that my engine D16Y8(stock internals) can handle. I'm going to be installing my turbo in 3 weeks.

Thanks.

Most say 250 is the point when rods tend to want to depart.

I'd keep it around 200whp daily if you want to be safe, more for tracks days. Make sure you have good fuel management and tuning. You can run more power, but don't be suprised if it blows up. I have been running about 215whp on my d16z6 for over a year and I beat it pretty hard, but I think I have a freak motor.

Me too especially after looking at your sig.

But I agree, keep it around 200whp for the streets and it should hold up well. That seems to be the number most people shoot for.

Hey guys, one more quick question.

My turbo is a t3/t04e .48 trim, 50 a/r, if anyone is running one on a stock d16......how much boost can run that would be equivelant to approx. 200whp.

Thanks.

Nahh, if anyone has a freak motor its me!! 185k and counting...Been bosted, sprayed on, beat the **** out of the entire time...Now boosting 12 psi on blue box/upped fuel pressure/btm...Still running strong with a solid a/f ratio and probably around 220 whp.....Personally,I dont think anyone who has a honda has a "freak" motor...They all will last if properly tuned and maintained..(even know most will disagree with my engine management..

Why not spend the money to rebuild the engine with forged internals? If your spending the money on a turbo, you should make it worth it.

If you want the engine to last, the 'safe' range for a stock internal D series is ~220-240whp. There have been stock internal D's in the mid 400s but i wouldn't expect it to hold together very long.

Good management =/= Uberdata

Good management = AEM, Hondata (S200, S300), CromePro, Neptune, Motec, etc..

What is meant by good fuel management? Is it as simple as just better fuel injectors, plugs, and run higher octane? Or is it more or less?

Tuning program.. Hondata S300, Neptune RTP, etc.. What is your SPECIFIC question? What are you trying to accomplish? What are you planning as far as setup, goals, etc?
