D16A6 turbo vs. D16A1 turbo
Which would you choose? I have the D16A6 already in my car. And i just purchased an a1. which would you guys/gals choose? i could have the a1 sitting on an engine stand and build the turbo and everything on it and then drop it in. i'm puzzled. which would be the best? going for all out performance. but i also want good reliability.

I would swap in the d16a1 and run around on that while you build the d16a6. The d16a1 is kind of an oddball motor and the d16a6 would make a killer sohc sleeper.

What kind of turbo's are actually available for the a6? I heard about ghetto turbos but have no idea how to do this. What kind of power gains does a turboed a6 get anyways?

I'm in the same situation man, are you going custom junk yard turbo? That is my plan. Good luck on your side!

one of the guys on there had a junkyard turbo on his d16a6. with just a little interior gutted, intercooler, and somen else(i cant think of) he ran a 14.2 @101. the d16a1 is great for turbos. low compression, big ports. i think i will try to develop the turbo on the d16a1. thanks for everyones input. i'll keep you posted

the a1 wont mount in a 4th gen civic chasis
different. I tried putting a 4th gen Civic engine (D16A6) into a
1G CRX (same mount points as a 3G Civic/1G Integra) and it wasn't even close to fitting. In addition to not fitting, the tranny layout is different, too. The D16A1 uses equal length axles + a half shaft. The A6 uses a short axle and a long-as-hell axle.

That's it in a nutshell. It will not fit. Motor mounts are completely
The A6 uses a short axle and a long-as-hell axle.

hmm, this isnt sounding too great. i will see if i get into any problems. if i do, i will boost my a6
Anything is possible with good tools, enough time, and a welder, but whether or not it is worth it will be for you to decide.
I took pics of just about everything, so you can see where you'll have problems. Lemme know if you want a link to those pics.
