d16 t3/t04e boost on stock sleeves
i have je 8.5.1, eagle rods, and a block gaurd, stock head gasket. some people tell me like 16 psi. some say 12 psi.
now i know i could push it and have a time bomb waiting to blow, but i want something reliable. this will be tunned on a hondata s200
what do you suggest for max boost i should push without wondering if im going to make it home.
platinum.

Re: d16 t3/t04e boost on stock sleeves (platinum00)
its all gonna depend on how aggressive the tuning is. i wouldn't run 16 psi daily....i think maybe 10 to 12 .......and maybe 16 at the track

I would boost 12+....just be prepared for the day a sleeve might break.
Otherwise, whats the point of the forged pistons and rods?
Oh, one more thing. D series blocks are a dime a dozen. I couldn't give mine away, I ended up recycling it.

I'll be pushing 15 psi daily on stock sleeves hopefully soon. 300whp+ on stock sleeves is fine with good tuning.

if you don't detonate, im sure cylinder pressures won't cause the sleeves to crack at 16 or so psi. tuning my friend tune very conservative and im sure ur fine

It won't be a certain boost level thats cracks the sleeves it will be a certain amount of power. 250whp daily should be OK and 300whp plus at the track.

im running a D16Z6 400whp 22-23psi boost daily and no problems. planing next year 500hp with stock sleeves and stock head gasket, head bolts. if engine is tuned right they will hold.
P.S what will be a best cam for turbo D16Z6?
where I can get a LSD for D16Z6?

ok so for my goals. does not look like im going to have a issue. now that's what im talking about.
i guess if i pop it. then ill just sleeve the next one
how long have you guys been running with this high boost and stock sleeves
kaimo
webcams makes a pretty good one, and quaife and phantom grip both have lsd's for our tranny's
i think if i go the lsd route, im going to get a jdm tranny with it already there.

Re: (SOFLSOL)
that requires me to take it back apart right
if im going to do that. why not just get the sleeves.
if i dont need to take my block apart to do it. give me some info cause im all for it.

I am running 11 lbs right now on a stock block tuned with Hondata. I would go higher but the map sensor limits me to this for now. I have a built block just haven't put it in yet. The engine is fine with 11lbs and 7700 rpm. I figured since I have a built block ready to go in, what the hell, see what she can do. It flies.

Re: d16 t3/t04e boost on stock sleeves (Chpt1onBOOST)
I run 10lbs and 100 shot of spray (tuned) on my d16z6 stock sleeves with a blockguard and internals. The only thing I've had problems with is headgaskets and I think that's because of factory headblots . Just replaced them with some studs this week, we'll see how it holds up.

D-series sleeves are as capable as b-series sleeves, they are of the same material. The smaller bore also helps with distortion resistence from the moment of inertia. I would imagine 500whp being the threshold for the sleeves.

I agree. Sleeving the D-Series isn't really necessary unless a bigger bore is desired.

Kaimo</TD></TR></TABLE>i think any honda motor can handle a lot of boost. all it need is a bomb tuner
and the best cam for turbo is the stock ex/si manuel cam. all though at the time i was looking for a cam everyone else told me to get power from somewhere else then a cam. so i just turned up the boost. 16lbs but my bottom was also sleeved.

Never been impressed with Paynes numbers.. But then again-- none of their **** blows up so a coservative tune with lower powers numbers is sometimes a good thing..
Bomb tuner?? Stoopid, Tony1, Boosted Hybrid (out of commmision), Vapour Trails, etc etc..
