Default D15B2 "DX" head vs D16A6 head under boost ??

My D16A6 head got worped b/c my radiator took a ****.... it over heated and now the water jacket is leaking into/out of the cylinders.

My question is... Do you guys think there is going to be a great difference in power under boost if I use my old D15b2 "DX" head ??

The DX head has the same EVERYTHING, minus the cam.. The A6 cam is said to rev a little higher vs the B2 making better torque....

I'm thinking that 13psi is enough to make any head/cam flow pretty good either way... And yes I'm "that broke" that I don't wanna pay $100 to get the A6 head decked, save the "just get it decked" comments.

13psi with A6 = 200hp ( hypitheticlly )
13psi with B2 = 195hp ????
5hp lost ??? more???

Over heating may be more than jsut the head. But I am sure you know that.

I can't remember, but does the Dx head have different quench areas? Will it change your comp ratio? My bet is that you will loose a good amount of power due to the smaller ports. But i bet you won't tell the difference except at high rpm.

Find someone doing a ZC swap or B16 swap and get their engine for free. There is a guy in altanta giving his away on CRX resource board, or was it CRX performance board? I can't remember.

D16's are plentiful.

Yea the ports are the same as well as the combustion cambers CC. I have a 1.6L motor so the smaller displacment isn't an issue, just the cam. I wasn't aware that the va;ve springs are different...

I was just wondering if the cam was really going to make that big of a difference.

As far as swaping the cam.... Its not worth the trouble IMO, there is a lot of stuff in the valve train that can get screwed up if it isn't assimled right..

I guess I'll find out... I'm about to go outside and swap it now...

I know that head is the cause of over heating b/c I replaced my therostat and I also have a full size radiator with one pusher fan on the turbo side and one puller fan on the other side ( trust me it moves some serous air !!! ) and they are both hard wired to the ignition ( always on ).

When I pulled the head off I could see the black marks on the block walls ( not the sleeve walls, the block walls ) where the gasket was blown/ head lifted.

Stupid bugs chaced me inside, until it gets a little colder out side head and block are both cleaned, just have to torque down and reassimble ).
