D15B turbo Build
Ok. here's my thing. I purchased a jdm d15b because i want to do a d series turbo build. And I knowthere is gonna be haters and people to ask why in the hell did you buy a d series motor that is rather difficult to build. well..i have had a build turbo ls, a B16 with the bottem end built turbo, and a b16 with nitrous...I've had my b series fun and now it's time to do something thats more challanging.
My question is..I want a low compression ration of something like 8.5:1.. does anyone know of a company that makes pistons for this particular application or will I have to have custom pistons made?
And do d16z6 aftermarket rods fit? and if so.. which onesdo NOT require notching the block?
Also.. any idea's on building the head such as company names or valves and spring and retainers will help alot..thanks for taking time to help a fellow honda enthusiast out

Vitara's are around 8:1 or so depending on your deck height etc. You will most likely have to notch the block with aftermarket rods. I did with a friends z6 and eagle rods.

Re: D15B turbo Build
Well took the complete block to the machine shop yesterday and my machinist says he will just order some custom pistons for my application. Will be posting some pics soon!!!
I decided to go with eagle H-beam rods and JE pistons. And get the crank micropolished..

Re: D15B turbo Build
Most bisimoto turbo cams suck fyi. I think it's the 3.6 that is the only decent performer vs the tried & true 59300 zex/comp. At least for the price.

If you would of went with the vitrara pistons and FJT rods, it would put you right at 8.1 ratio and you would not have to notch the block.

On the JDM D15b they do not require notching as reported by the customers who have installed them already."

Re: D15B turbo Build
Wow, this thread seriously is coming through. I too have a JDM D15b sitting in my garage with a bad head gasket. since i had i have it all ive thought about is turbo'n it. so how much does your machinist charge you for all this? does it get pretty pricey?
i know that stock internals could handle some little beating but want more out of it, and a little more reliable.
So Vitara pistons and FJT Rods is where its at or what?
i want to be in the 2-300+whp.
it would really make it sound like a diesel truck?
