Default D series Greddy Turbo manifold question

Must I cut the exhuast manifold to keep it from cracking on a D series SOHC ? I've installed two greddy turbo kits on miata's. It was highly recommended to due so. Alot of guys manifold where cracking and replacement units where nearly impossible to get.

I run the Greddy kit on my EG and had one on my 99 Si. Never had a problem with either of them cracking.
