Cylinder head PICS - need some input guys
OK guys please take a look at these and tell me what you think -
My suspicion is that I was getting some serious exchange of oil and coolant between the combustion chamber and the cooling jacket (notice black sludge on head gasket where it should only be in contact with coolant). The buildup on the valves I have no idea about - these valves were completely clean maybe 5 months ago. The head gasket appears to be in good condition and the head bolts were tight as hell - were my head bolts stretching out? Or is my cylinder head warped? Any input at all?

looks like your piston tapped the head. its not supposed to say "in". to check for straightness get a precision straight edge and a feeler gauge to check for high and low spots.

HA I hadn't noticed that - good call! Yeah I imagine that happened when my rod bearing spun. Hope the head's OK, I can't imagine it being damaged too bad from that. But do you think the other evidence on the head suggests a leaking head gasket, whether from the gasket itself or from the head lifting?

that's a little bit hard to tell. if you're running stock head bolts it may have well lifted. try the straight edge technique. it will take the guess work out of it, and you'll know for sure what was happening.

OK I'll go see if my machinist can dig up a decent straight edge for me, thanks.
