Default Custom intake manifold for 1.8t (and some other pics.)

ok i want thoughts about this intake manifold...
and the other random pics that make up my setup...
also when i say 1.8t i mean vw 20v 1.8t
i know its not a honda
here are some pictures of the new intake manifold with velocity stacks and about 180-200ci plenum volume.

for more technical info check out my forum.
http://www.vwfixx.com/forums/i...28654

mainly i wanted anyones insite on the intake manifold...
but i added a few other pics to make this worth looking at.
so i want the good and the bad.
so the appropriate changes can be made before i start this pig.

I'd prolly paint it so it wouldn't look so home made, but function over fashion is what really matters. However I do like it.

was at 507bhp on stock internals until a few rods were puked up...
now im not sure what it will make...id hope 500again lol.
pauter rods, wiseco pistons etc etc... completely built.

as for the painting... i agree 100%...
everything under the hood like valve cover and intercooler plumbing will be this random *** color called ebony chestnut....
its this ultra dark brown/plum/black color... same color a the wheels on the car.
also the cooler will be anodized as well.

I think you would get a better response in the welding/fabrication section

Yep! Or Geoff from Full Race or even Jeff Evans may reply and give some insight.

im just wondering if incorporating the velocity stacks on a FI setup is going to hurt and hinder performance or help performance...
ill post it over in fab.

good buddy of ine has a 1.8t. I told him to get a standalone + boost controller and then some fuel support, then to up the boost. What kin dof power can you expect out of a stock block with some day to day reliability? Nice mani btw

You don't need stand alone. He only need some bigger injectos (i.e. 440cc), boost controller, bigger IC, a custom chip, and a bigger turbo (i.e. K04), and 3bar FPR. I've heard of the 1.8T handling close to 350-400hp on stock bottom end...it's strong...the most important thing is to make sure you don't run lean...as long as u have enough fuel, and have a big intercooler, it will be good to go. The stock block is very robust.

yep the stock blocks are tough as nails...
billy tylaska is making 443whp stock block, worked head(cams, valve job, etc etc)...
and from oil pan to valve cover my motor was bone stock and forked out 441whp and about 401ftlbs of torque to the wheels before caughing up a rod and a gnarly hole in the block.

also an updated picture.
charge pipe welds will be ground down to blend, and painted black.

you are god i would love to do this to the GTI... if i had the money i'm thinking of starting small with a T3 Super60 on a adapter plate to keep costs down. Awsome intake manifold BTW. If you dont mind me asking, where did you get your oil lines?

we purchased the return hose and socketless fttings from a place in town called hampton rubber, then we took a measurment for the feed line and had a line made by the same company...
also..
go to http://boosteddubs.com and email brien about an oil line kit...
they have a few in stock

Looks great man and I think your on the right track withe velocity stacks..

I think you should put your 20th wheels back on or some 337s, those blackies are doing nothing for ya. I understand the sleeper concept - but I hope those are just track wheels.

Great project, I miss my 20th..
