Default Custom geared LS tranny? Need some insight

I just picked up an S80 tranny from a guy, I was told it was a GSR, got it home, cracked it open and it turns out to be an LS. Now, the thing is, this tranny is FLAWLESS, I looks to have been babied it's whole life, looks brand new on the synchros and sliders. I was on the transmission calculator and my car should trap around 145-155mph with 26" tires. I was thinking about using the LS with the 4.266 final drive and switching in a GSR 3rd and 4th gear for the track while keeping the LS 5th for highway driving. The 4.266 and 4.4 final drive isn't much of a difference at all, 1mph in 1st, 2mph in 2nd, 4mph in 3rd, 5mph in 4th with a top speed of 230mph in 5th at 9000RPM. It seems 4th would end at 158mph. Is there any real downside to switching in a GSR 3rd and 4th into an LS tranny? I just hate to sell this tranny off, when I think I may be able to use it. Any opinions on this setup?

There is no downside in switching the gsr 3rd and 4th into the LS. Are you really running a 9sec car on the street? If its in mint condition you would have to get new 3rd and 4th gsr gears with syncros and all anyways so I would just sell it and pick up a gsr.

Oh yes, it's getting driven on the street. Just BARELY street legal.

Shouldn't have to change out synchros, the 3rd/4th sleeve/synchro set on the GSR and LS uses the same part number I thought? I have access to just the gears themselves, I know Honda wants to sell the 3rd gear on the mainshaft together with the sleeve/synchro assembly as well. The gears for the countershaft are sold alone as well as the 4th gear for the mainshaft. 3rd is the odd man out at the stealership.

LS and vtec trans gears are different so you will need the syncros as well. I know because I bought the ITR 3rd gear sleeve set I find out that they are bigger when I opened the tranny case. For the LS you need to buy the sleeve set along with the gear.

The B16/ITR does in fact have different size synchros than the GSR I know for a fact. The GSR has 69mm synchro compared to B16/ITR 76mm. From the information I have gathered on here, the LS and GSR have the same size, the B16 and ITR just have the bigger ones. Kinda wierd.
