Default CRX SI tranny gears too small for t25 turbo??

Hi there,

I have a CRX SI, with SOHC ZC using the stock SI tranny. I also have a homemade turbo kit that ive built using a T 25 turbo. Now I noticed that on the freeway around 65-75 mph I am constantly at a high rev of 3500rpms.

My question is wont that many RPMs keep the small T25 turbo at almost full boost while just crusing on the freeway?

So I was considering getting CRX DX converting to MPFI then boosting, or Just getting the DX tranny for the longer gears then boosting. Any Info would be great thanks

youll be fine, you wont be making much if any boost just cruising. you actually have to get into the throttle a little bit. my friend had the setup, same tranny and turbo, and his did fine.

Yeh, I had pretty much the same setup, but on a d16a6 SOHC. At the high rpms on the highway, boost just came in a lot faster with that tiny turbo. Just tap the throttle a little and boost, it was nice, no need to downshift to pass anymore

The dsm 1g turbo manifold fits the d series engine right?, now with that in mind is the t25 the turbo to go with.?

I had a CRX with a stock Y7 boosted with a T25 and a DX tranny. In short, I HATED the DX tranny. The T25 liked low to mid rpms (2500-5500) and above that you could feel it just wasn't as efficient. So, "being in boost longer" with the DX tranny made me slower . Keep the Si tranny.

Oh, and boost is load dependant. If you don't want to boost on the highway, stay off the gas . And I averaged 34-36mpg with my CRX and a high of 40mpg.
