Re: CRX+B18C+turbo+AWD (ScrapinSi)
I always heard the CR-V drivetrain was too weak to handle any amount of power.
Looking at that CRX, I really hope that's wrong. Mmmm.... AWD Hondas boost.

Those AWD DSM's better watch out. I'd like to know the parts list for the conversion. A guideline of what was done would be nice too. How much did it cost?

Same here what was used to complete the setup? What type of power is he putting down and how is setup holding up? Any problems so far and also does he have a number?

Re: CRX+B18C+turbo+AWD (F22Turbo)
someone down here had it done and they kept breaking the tranny and transfer cases. the crv was not meant fo the kind of hp we put to it. i mean look at the cars that were designed to be awd and have a lot of hp. they all get destroyed also. but i have to admit, it would be an out of the whole sleeper at just 300whp.

Re: CRX+B18C+turbo+AWD (jinxproof99)
The wierdest thing is, I will be turboing my CRX soon and I have the same Turbo(pontiac sunbird T-25), same intercooler (Isuzu sumpin er other), and I will be using a Bosch CBV, also... No AWD tho... With that turbo, this car won't be making any more than 250hp... If that.

i just don't think those are not gonna like 400 hsp, 5-6k rpm launches.
I wonder how it drives on the street? Hmmm...

Hmmm, what's this?
Plus this, by the starter:
= Ebrake slave cylinder? Huh?

Re: CRX+B18C+turbo+AWD (98CTRCoupe)
I could diffinatly use AWD , Is there a way to build up the parts and make them stronger?
I wonder if the Type R tranny parts would fit into a CRV tranny?

Maybe I am wrong but when you add two more drive wheels isn't the hp at each wheel reduced? So if you have a 400hp motor the rear wheels would only see 200hp of that.

Re: CRX+B18C+turbo+AWD (ricodemus)
so how is the driveshaft turned if the motor is mounted east-west?
& arent the crv tanny's automatics?

You could always take a 2G DSM tranny, xfer case, driveshaft, rear-end and make an aluminum adapter plate, scribe where the factory Honda bell housing bolt holes are. Counter-sink the bolts into the adapter plate so the DSM tranny lies flush. Then you would drill and tap your mounting points for the tranny side of the housing.
You would also have to swap out the rear suspension and modify the mounting points for the rear assembly.
The hard part is making sure you that your DSM input shaft is long enough, fly/clutch bolt up or you will need a custom center section on the flywheel with the honda crankshaft/fly bolt pattern. With a few measurements and some custom shaft work you could get it to work. Wasnt someone on this board makind adapter plates/inputshafts for b-series tranny on h22's to eliminate h22 high rpm shift issues (bambooluv?p-dang)
Im sure his guy could make some input shafts that would work.
Honestly.. I think this is why no one has a high powered AWD Honda. It is just to much work.
If you put that much work into suspension geometry and keeping it FF you would be faster and lighter at the track. I dont see many AWD cars holding together past low 9's high 8's. I know of 2 glazer and shepard.
There are a multitude of low 9 sec FF's
AWD is fun though! That is why I bought a Talon for the street and the civic for the track/weekend fun

Re: CRX+B18C+turbo+AWD (b18cya)
someone did that in miami, but with a CRVTEC all motor. first time the launched the car from 6000rpms the crv rear differential exploded, but it ran good for a little while.

Re: CRX+B18C+turbo+AWD (MaxBoost)
I've no idea about this set-up.....will se more this summer.....I heard that this guy is rallying a lot....It's probably more a rally/fun car than a drag race car.....I guess he knows that he can't put 400Whp down to the CRV drive train....

Re: CRX+B18C+turbo+AWD (lowexr)
I wonder if a company like Level10 could take the differential and transfer case and all the internals and just reinforce it. Also, if they were doing that they could probably change the torque split. The thought of a bulletproof AWD 500hp EG, with a 40/60 f/r split gives me a woody..
I'm sure the axles could be fixed very easily. A local axle shop fabricates custom axles for almost anything. I'm sure they could build some thick *** axles, and a custom CF driveshaft GranTurismo Style! lol
The shop that works on my car, was doing something sorta similar but it was a little different. It was a 400whp all motor AWD EG hatch, but they did it a little differently. It was two 200whp CRVTEC motors in a hatch. Identical WHP motors, Identical trannies, just one mounted in the back, one mounted in the front. Unfortunately the car got stolen from where it was being stored. So if anyone see's a two motor EG hatch for sale. gimme a hollar. It was white with a massive custom linked suspension and roll car, pretty much a tube-framed car.
