i changed my plugs today and there was a small amount of crud (corrosion or just general crud) along the walls of the hole in the head that the plug goes through (pardon my terminology here, you konw what i'm talking about...) not on the actual threaded portion or near there, but at the seam just below the valve cover. now, a while ago i degreased a little overzealously and a bunch of liquid got in and around the plug wires in that area. i cleaned that off, i thought, but it was in the same place again. the rubber shaft on the plug wire also had some fine powder on it.

could this be indicative of a blown gasket or something? the car runs pretty well, sounds normal, etc. again, the plug itself (the business end, the threads, and the connector part) look fine. no signs of detonation.

There are little rubber gromets that go around the holes where the valve cover meets the head at. If you look down the "funnel" you should be able to see them. You can get new ones from acura. This is pretty common. Or you could pull the cover and silicon them, but I wouldnt recomment since they are only a dollar something ? at acura.

in either case i'd need to pull the valve color, so maybe i should get it off and have a look-see?
