Default crossthreaded 10an fitting on valve cover

has anyone here crossthreaded a AN fitting? i have slightly crossthreaded a 10 AN fitting on my valve cover and i would like to see if i can fix it with a die but im not sure what size to use.

Can you post a picture of it? I've actually had a lot of success in the past just taking a razor blade and running it through the threads to clear them out and straighten.

A thread file would probably work. Is cutting the fitting off and welding a new one on a viable option?

Yeah I've just used a little flat head screwdriver to clean it up.

It doesn't hold fluid so I'd probably fix it with a file or a 10an thread die if you can find one and just be really careful threading it back together.

I have used a lube up -10 steel cap with success..

if i could find the die, i looked for about an hour online, i would use that. but no dice

im going to use a cap and this place in town sales the steel caps. im basically going to force it on if all else fails

i can cut it off but i dont want to use that port anymore. i have four parts of on my valve cover and i want to cap off the back two now. i might just get a steel cap and tie it down with that with some teflon

You want a 7/8" - 14 SAE die. Search amazon for "7/8" 14 SAE die" and you'll find a bunch.
